Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Who has that article about filters?

Is this the one you refer to.  If not you should give it a look cause it's pretty interesting.
I think I might be going to WIX.

Friends don't let friends buy Fram (or any of the 40 no-name ones they make).  :icon_smile_dead:

Wix for me too.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I've been using Fram (and Champion Plugs) since 1980 without any trouble. And Dad got me started using them both.

Fram was great until they started selling to Wal-Mart. Now they're the cheapest oil filter made just to meet Wal-Marts strict price cap.
The last moapr performance filter I bought (last week) for my hemi was $25 inc shipping and tax. Way too much money. I gotta find an alternative. I still buy Fram air filters. The other oval filters just don't look right on a mopar.

K&N or any of the filters made by Wix-Dana corp; i.e.- Wix and NAPA

I saw that study, or one similar, quite awhile back.  I've used NAPA Gold ever since (since it's made by Wix, and I can't seem to find Wix).

I was also a fram guy until I read that article a couple of years ago and switched to the purolator pure ones

squeakfinder

I used to use Fram but then heard that they are complete junk inside and switched to NAPA gold.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

Plumcrazy

I used to use the Mopar repro filters until they got too expensive.
I have a Mobil 1 filter on my Charger now but I would have bought a K&N if the local Autozone had the right one in stock, maybe next year.

:Twocents: I don't consider a Fram to be a high quality filter but I've taken hundreds of them off of engines over the last 30 years, haven't seen one cause a problem yet.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Ghoste

The last two were K&N for me.

MGBRingo

i switched from many years of using Fram to Purolator a couple of years ago.  No more Fram for me.

TheAutoArchaeologist

Working at a repair shop, I've seen tons of engines get wrecked by FRAM oil filters.  They degrade and fall apart, then ruin the engine.

I have used NAPA Gold for years.  Never knew they were made by WIX.  Now that I do, I'll keep on using them!  (Besides, NAPA is close by and WIX are nearly impossible to find locally)

wix is sold by o'reilly autoparts.  you can find them at www.oreillyautoparts.com   they sell online and can ship to your door if needed.  Cheaper than NAPA most likely, but I have not compared the two as of yet.

Personally, I use Pure One but here's a guy that's more than satisfied with the performance of Fram:

Could be my aging eyes but I swear I see an orange filter on the majority of Top Fuel cars.
