original jack repair

I've seen a few old threads asking the same question but there was never a post made after the fact.  Anyways has anyone here ever replaced the internal spring in a Charger jack?  I have a few of them and in one of them the spring is broke.  I would never use the jack but would like it in working order anyways.  I found another non-charger jack laying around that I could steal the spring from just wondering if anyone has done it before.  I know I read somewhere before that a guy removed the rivet from the lever mechanism.
