We might not be able to stop the car from being jumped. But maybee we can make it less profitable for them.

ps- Did anyone notice this little quote? "This car will be jumped live on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 2 P.M. by stuntmen James Smith, Robert Smit, Richard Cummings, Tom Sarmento and Scott Sarmento." Does this mean 5 seperate people are jumping the car?
Maybe it means that all five guys will run and jump over the car while it is parked in front of the crowd.

JUST ONE MORE REASON WHY I HATE THE DUKES OF HAZZARD..............

BECAUSE THEY INSPIRE DUMB ASS TURD EATERS TO DO THAT TO A PERFECTLY RESTORABLE 69 Charger
Turd Eaters will always find inspiration.  And the Dukes of Hazzard is just one phase of the madness.  The show wouldn't have chosen that car if it wasn't so successful already.  So, maybe it was the Charger guys who are to blame for creating the hype that make the Dukes happen, and then all of the Turd Eaters that followed.  Technically, we should blame the design team which created the 1968 Dodge Charger that inspired so many fans of the car.  Or we could go back to Og, the caveman who invented the wheel for starting all of the madness.  Without him, there would be no Turd Eaters making Dukes fans, Charger owners, and car designers from the 60s look bad.
Matt. 14:8 (KJV) "And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, 'give me here John Baptist's head in a Charger.'"

I sent Ebay a message yesterday, saying the listing and specifically the pictures are misleading and it should be pulled.  I asked them just what the bidder would be bidding on.  'You get what's left of it...'  By that standard they could pull the entire drivetrain, give you the battered shell and say 'that's what's left of it.'  Total crap.  It's also interesting that the auction ends a few days after they're going to wreck it.  Are they going to update the pictures?  I don't know anything about contract law but this sounds really f****d up.

Crazy Larry

I just emailed Ebay as well - maybe if enough of us do it, they'll get the point.

Had to write it quick so it went like this....

This item is up for bid but the condition is listed as "as is" after they plan on wrecking the car in a stunt on Saturday. There is no way of knowing just what the car will look like, or still have intact with this auction. Also, they have links to their business website which may sell other items outside of ebay.
Basically, they are displaying what appears to be a very nice exterior of a car and asking the winner to pay for something that is not displayed. And the auction ends 5 days after they plan on wrecking this vehicle in a stunt - so does that mean they can rip out the engine and transmission (very valuable for a numbers matching R/T) and then call it "As is"?
Please cancel the bidding on this item as soon as possible to save buyers from a most likely fraudulent act.

I took some pointers from OXO1B8 - good points he made in his previous post - the whole thing about pulling the drive train and all.

Would anybody like to buy my bottle of Glenlivet 12 year old?  Be advised you're buying the scotch after I drink it, or what's left of it.

Update from eBay

Hello,

Thank you for writing to eBay Motors Support, my name is ******, I appreciate the opportunity to assist you with concerns regarding the 1969 Dodge : Charger listing (4634722696).

I do see what you are referring to on this auction. I have reported it to our Trust and Safety team to investigate and take appropriate action...This item would be better suited in our Parts and Accessories listings as a Parts Car as that is what it will be after the vehicle is ruined it seems, rather than in the Passenger Vehicle category.

THATS IT!  If it gets listed in parts and accessories those guys are gonna get stuck in the ass with a final value fee.

they still have it in pass vehicles.  hasn't moved yet and it's over 7k
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Ghoste

I'd be surprised if they did.  E-bay is about making money for e-bay.  Nothing more, nothing less.  Our complaints matter little here if there is nothing to legally implicate e-bay.

squeakfinder

Right. It's about feebay making there money. If it gets put into parts and accessories there probably going to make more with the final value fee.

That's interesting.

That visually-shocking jump damage is probably scaring off a lot of bidders.  But it's still a real factory 440/4spd/Dana 60 car, and the engine & tranny are probably not much damaged.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

If I were them, I think I might jack the unibody/framerails back into shape (have it done professionally), and then re-list it on Ebay one more time.

SeattleCharger

Is there a link that shows it after the crash?  Did it jump already?   The original link here on page one is pre jump condition.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Mike DC

It's pretty bad.  The whole LF corner of the body is totalled beyond re-using any part of it, and the rearend is bent too.  The car is still fixable, but only if you really value it for the VIN and want that same body fixed.  Nobody would touch a 318 car with that kind of damage.

Ironically, I heard that R/T's doors actually still opened & closed fine after the jump.  The beefy rollcage tends to keep the center "cab" area of the car in better shape that you'd expect.  It concentrates more of the force into the front & rear ends.
