Hi guys, my 440 in the last week or so has started running a bit rough, more noticeable when accelerating like it's not running on 8, the strange thing is after a few miles of driving it clears and goes back to normal, also it doesn't do it everytime, sometimes it starts and runs ok but other times it's running rough, could it be the plugs need replacing ? I don't think it would be the carb or timing as i've not altered them at all since i've had it. There is no smoke or knocking on the engine either, thanks for any help.

I think your guess about ignition is on target.  I would also consider things like plug wires and other ignition components as possible causes.  My guess is someone here will chime in with specific tests.  If not, I suggest systematically working from plugs and wires back through the ignition.  What type of ignition do you have?
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Reminds me of the time I had an intermittent coil.  If it was hot it would act up, but if your road speed increased it would cool a bit and run better.  A new coil fixed it.
Mopar forever!

Thanks for the replies, it's MSD electronic ignition, bit strange that it smooths out after a while though

Check your spark plugs first and see what they look like. If they are sooty black looking then that's whats up with your engine. Get a look at them and go from there.....
