hi im wondering where i can get a ac delete bracket for a 1969 440 chrysler 300 as i cant seem to find one and some people say you have to change all thepulleys?

A383Wing

there is no "delete" bracket or pulley for the AC....you either have to mount the compressor, or change all the pulleys and water pump to change to Non-AC belt arrangement

thats what i thought thank you

I thought there was a bolt on idler pulley that worked for this in place of the compressor seems like I saw a picture of it on a member's car?  :shruggy:

Actually, there is (called a bypass pulley) but I can't remember who offers it.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

You don't need to change water pump.  :yesnod:

yea ya do....vanes are different size and different number of vanes for AC & Non-AC pumps

ACUDANUT

No you don't. But I guess my 50 Years of Mopars don't equal your 20 tears. :scratchchin:

John_Kunkel

Depends on the year; early A/C cars used the same pump for A/C or not but that changed around '69 when they overdrove the pump by 40% to increase the fan speed and this necessitated reducing the vane size to prevent cavitation.

Of course, some folks use the wrong parts and get away with it so that becomes the rule.

Well, maybe you should check the parts books instead of your 50 years of wrong understanding of water pumps

the 66 parts book lists 2 different water pumps for all the big blocks

Part number 2448326 is for all big blocks without factory AC
Part number 2585384 is for all big blocks with factory AC

if you use the wrong pump, engine will overheat due to either pump not pumping enough water through the block, or the water pump will cavitate the water so fast it won't go through the engine

Non-AC pumps have 8 vanes and the vane diameter is almost the size of the opening in the water pump housing
AC pumps have 6 vanes and the vane diameter is about half of the non-AC pumps

not sure how much more explanation you require

This is what I was referring to in reply #3.

Well, I guess I got lucky. When I removed my a/c system I never touched the water pump and had no problems.  I can tell you I have had a couple of water pumps go bad in the 30 plus years I have owned it.  One water pump broke a bearing and the fan destroyed my radiator.
