Dumb question, but:
The picture shows the brackets that attach the front bumper on my '68 Charger.
I was thinking about just hitting it with a wire wheel, prime and paint it Black.

Is that a poor approach and what would you recommend.
Thank you,
John

Kern Dog

I cleaned mine then shot them with regular auto body paint. I bought a gallon of black paint just for chassis stuff. K member, control arms, bumper brackets, rear axle, etc.

I would sandblast. Then seal and paint with a good quality enamel or urethane paint.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

There's a company close to me that will dip them in a chemical bath and after a gazillion rinses dip them in epoxy. If you have one of those in your area I'd look into it.

Blast and paint is always a solid option. Wire wheel won't get all the rust out of the pits and will take a long time. Not to mention the mess! It shouldn't be too costly to have these blasted.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Thank you.
I thought of options such as the above three.
The best option is always the hardest to do.

Did mine for my '72 with a drill attachment that stripped them down and soaked in Evaporust, then I sprayed them with Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator and then their Chassis black. Haven't driven the car yet so can't speak to durability but they are better than before.
