The butchered the Enterprise and Made it TeenTrek... makes it look like something from the WB.  I'm a fan of Star Trek, and I'll pass on this piece of junk.

I grew up with all of them and I'm sure i'm in the minority here, but I thought "Voyager" was the best of the post 60's Star Treks.

John

nope, I agree 100%. It went back to the original Star Trek. Exploration in a underpowered ship.

Next generation was the best of all star trek. Patrick stewart's character was great and Data was the perfect ancestor (in the context of character development) of spok.

This new movie looks very cool.  any fan's of the tv show heros will recognize the dude they got to play spok.  it's syler/gabriel.  I will be seeing this when it comes out.

Lol, you brought up BSG.  A show that lasted for one season 20 years ago.  Star Trek as it was, had hundreds of hours of story and history.  Throwing that all out to make another Star Wars movie is horrible.  And I do mean Star Wars.  Kirk has a "destiny" now.  Next thing you know, Kahn will be his father.

Looks like someone took a 12 year old and told him to make a movie with space ships.

I like the new star trek show that is supposedly pre-original star trek in the time line.   with the captain from that old show quantum leap?  I think, ?    I like the beginning of show, also, the song at beginning with clips of flight/space history,   :D

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

I was watching it for the longest time! For anyone that cares the theme is "Faith of The Heart" by Russell Watson:

It's been a long road
Getting from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near

And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothing's in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna hold me down

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith, I've got faith, faith of the heart

It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
Now I've finally have my day

And I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna change my mind

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith, faith of the heart

I've known the wind so cold, and seen the darkest days.
But now the winds I feel, are only winds of change.
I've been through the fire and I've been through the rain.
But I'll be fine.

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith

I've got faith of the heart.
I'm going where my heart will take me.
I've got strength of the soul. And no one's gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. I've got faith, I've got faith, faith of the heart.

It's been a long road.

My favorite Star Treks are the original series and the latter part of TNG, as well as the movies. Voyager was way too PC, although once you got beyond that it was pretty good. DS9 was pretty good here and there and got way better toward the end but you really had to keep up with it to understand what was going on. Enterprise was ok but they got desperate and tried too hard toward the end. I have the feeling the new movie is going to be like that too. I think they best thing that can be done to revitalize the Star Trek franchise is to toss out much of Roddenberry's edicts and have some fun with it.

It's funny that people rip on the original BSG television series special effects.

Few realize that it was the head of the "Star Wars" SFX department that did that show.  John Dykstra defected from ILM immediately after finishing SW#4 because he didn't work well with George Lucas.  But the revolutionary computer-controlled motion control camera rig they invented for SW#4 was pretty much all his deal.

BSG in '78 was weaker in effects than Star Wars in '77, but that had as much to do with TV production compromises as anything else.  Star Wars was a two-hour show, not an entire season of hourly episodes.

The BSG show was still cancelled largely because it cost so much to produce.  Even as a decent hit it was hard to ever recover it and get very far into black ink.

Ummm.....I wasn't referring to the old crappy BSG......there is a new BSG that has been on for 4 seasons and in my humble opinion is far and away better than any other space epics I've seen.  :Twocents:
