how do you know if you have 6pack rods in a 440 ,does anyonr know the casting#

The casting # on the rod is 2951908 if its a six pak rod.

Six-pack Rods are not exclusive to 70-71 six-pack engines though - they were installed in all HP 440s from '70-'74.  That terminology is sorta like referring to any 18-spline 4-speed transmission as a "Hemi 4-speed".

Oh, and FWIW 69-1/2 six-pack engines had the same rods as all other 440s, they were just 100% magnaglo inspected before installation.  Those engines' rods would bear the same 1851535 casting number used up to that point.
