I am looking for information and pictures of what the correct spark plug heat shields should be on a 1969 440HP motor that was assembled on 01-04-69.   There appears to be (2) different ones available for the #6-#8 spark plugs as well as the #7 spark plug.   Thanks for any help.

Only heat shield I'm aware of for the '69... #7. My engine was built Feb 28 69

But I've been wrong before and if you can prove it.. it means I have to buy more stuff !  :slap:

Thanks for the reply but what I have read is that there are (2) heat shields available for #6-#8 spark plugs on a 1969 440, one that is for 1966 through mid year 1969 and one that is after mid year 69, the same for the heat shield for #7 spark plug,  I am just trying to figure out which ones would be correct on my motor with the assembly date of 01-04-1969.

They're available... but I think they were only for '68 manifolds. Let me go find my sheets.

I do see that Greg is selling this though as a 67 to 69 item...

I see what you are saying now.. they changed the shield profiles for later production dates. Yours is a Jan 4th engine.. fairly positive that is considered early.

not sure if this is useful info , or just going to confuse things , when I got my charger  ,   a bone stock  low miles  69  E series  440  imperial motor , complete with steel head gaskets , heads had never been off , was in there  ,  had the 69 hp b-body cast iron manifolds put on though  . had  a pair of those double heat shield thingys  one each side  ,  although I cant be 100% sure  , but seen to recall putting them back on every time ive swapped heads  :shruggy:   will have a check & look at some old pictures later
