Going to buy a 1968 Plymouth "Sport Satellite" convertible. Whats the diffrence between Sport Satellite and Satellite?
It actually has a 383/4 with 727 trans from start.

There were over 20,000 sport satellites made so they aren't "rare". The only thing that made them "sport" satellites was a few minor cosmetic changes.

The Sport Satellite also had the same grille as the GTX.

Sport Satellite has the upgraded trim level like a GTX , both interior and exterior.

The major differences that I can remember off hand are.....

Side body mouldings
Trunk lid trim
Grilles
Tail light housings
Door panels
Dash trim over glove box & radio bezel
Seat cover patterns

The most expensive items if you need them will be the trunk lid trim & the tail light bezels. The Satellite had an aluminum moulding which pops up on ebay & reasonable for under $150. The Sport Satellite panel is pot metal & 99% of them are pitted. One in "fair" condition will run $300 while a very nice one will be $1500. There was a really nice NOS one at Carlisle for $3000. If I recall, the tail light bezels are reproduced by PG Classics & not cheap.

I didn't see it mentioned but I thought the Sport Satellite had Rallye gauges and the regular had the bar speedo. :shruggy:

so, if im reading it correctly...sports didn't have big blocks?

Also, I dont know about 68's, but the 69 sport grille is hard to find and super pricey. I know bc i tried to look for one to go for that look on my regular 69 sat and it was prohibitively expensive.

You could get a Sport Satellite with both the 2 bbl and 4 bbl 330 hp 383.  From Galen's book.  No 440's listed.

I parted one many years ago & it had the regular bar type but I wouldn't be surprised if the rally gauges were an option. :shruggy:

Yes, the 383 was available, I know a local guy who bought one brand new with a 4-speed. I almost bought a 383 Sport Satellite before I found my Road Runner but the motor was "tired" & would've needed to be redone.

Actually I'd add the grille, being on same line.

I helped to a friend of mine locally to hunt a grille for his 68 GTX ( only known down here but needing full resto ) 4 speeds and it took around a year to find one in decent conditions and decent price. Of course never searched for a GTX grill but SS grill, because the GT name increases the price maybe double. Fortunatelly the seller listed it just for SS
