Engine idles fast when it warms up?

My 440 Charger starts cold and idles around 900 rpm. Once it gets up to operating temperature, the idle increases to around 1400 rpm. It has an Edelbrock 750 carb, (the 1411). It had a manual choke and I switched to an electric one but it made no difference. Anybody else seen this before?

Is your choke working at all? If it is, then maybe it is richening the mixture without raising the idle as it should. My Edelbrock 1411 started around 2000 and stepped down in two steps while warming up. When your choke blade closes, check the zinc washed (gold looking) lever on the drivers side is stepping up the idle. It should be the idle stop for your idle screw. It has three steps to it. Adjust it and see what it does. Also, check the vacum at cold idle verses warm idle. You might have a slight vacum leak somewhere.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.

Fixed it. It was a leak in the intake manifold gasket.

Good find. Not too hard to fix. "Happy motoring", as Dennis Gauge would say.
