I feel like such an idiot.  :brickwall:. Well it was a perfect Sunday for cruise with the wife and kids. Granted I was so excited to take the whole gang on a cruise. We all wash the old gal had it nice and pretty for her cruise. We take her out and start to go down the road and all of a sudden bam the hood comes flying back[/size. Are you kidding me, I am cussing up a Strom, throwing a tantrum in the middle of the street as I see my hood touching the windshield. I completely forgot got to latch it down after we washed it. I manged to get it shut and told everyone to stay put cause we are going on this cruise no matter what. Here are a couple of pics, how fixable do you think it is? I just took pictures from top.

Live with it till you find another hood ??
Think you would have really stretched the inner webbing (or torn it right apart)
Think it would be lots of work to get it perfect and straight again
Was it a perfect rot free hood when you started with it ?

Check your hinges very close, they could also be bent/cracked.
I do not see hood pins.

where did your safety catch go?
Not sure I think I just had closed it slowly and never latched.
Sublime: yes the hood was in excellent condition.

Dual fours: yes I do believe the driver side hinge is bent and no I don't have hood pins installed.

It could have been a lot worse I was only maybe traveling 30mph. Just glad it didn't happen on the Main Street or highway.

The safety latch/catch should still be there mounted on the bottom side of the hood, if you or somebody else did not remove it. It's the thing that digs in to the back of your head when working under the hood in from the front. Is anybody reproducing the 70 hoods yet?

Ouch.  Sorry man.

There are no repro (steel) 1970 hoods.

1970 front ends only apply to about 50,000 cars.  The hoods & fenders will probably never be repro'd.

I am sorry to hear about this.  I tend to agree with what the others say.  Was in a ford as a kid when the hood also popped up.  That still sticks in my mind.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

I did it also under a similar situation and mine is just a skin BUT I forgot to put in the hood pins, all 4 of them. :Twocents:
