A friend is hot, very hot, to buy this car.  1970 Dodge Charger 440 6-Pack at Fast Lane Classics, St. Charles, Missouri

http://www.ebay.com/itm/351835060201?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

XP29L0G137341.  Do you know this car?

Looks great, listed at $59k at their site, bids are at $40k.  That is a lot of money.  He can afford it.  But that's a lot of money, so I'm trying to help him out and talk some sense.

What's wrong with this Charger?  Anything?  Is Fast Lane reputable?

Only additional info I have on it was that it was up for auction a few months ago by Motorsport Auction Group out of Reno Nevada. I guess Fast Lane bought it at auction dragged it to Missouri and are looking to flip it.

The description for the auction said it was an Oregon car.

1970 Dodge Charger 500.
Oregon car rust free.
440 cid V 8 engine.
4 speed manual transmission with pistol grip shift.
Recent ground up restoration.
Repaint in original color.
Chrysler Corporation broadcast sheet.
Six pack intake manifold from 1969 model with three newer type 2 barrel carburetors.
Rear Sure -Grip 3.55 differential.
Classic Hoosier tires.
Air scoop hood.
Black vinyl top.
8 track stereo with rotary radio dial.
Hidden headlights.
Very straight body.
No known mechanical issues.
Very fast car with 3-inch dual exhaust system.
Lot 406

Seems nice but I would not shell out those $$ for this car. You could buy a decent legit V code 70 Charger.

crj1968

3.76 gears it says in ebay ad.

Not sure a date code 440 matters when it was a factory 383 2bbl car. (L code)

Good looking car but your friend could buy mine (less good looking) for about $20K less.  http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,125649.0.html     :icon_smile_big:

3.76 gears ??? Where do you get those? Knock a few teeth off the ring gear of a 3.91 ???  :smilielol:

dual fours

Looks like a 22" radiator, is that a good size for that 440? I wonder if it will overheat?

I hate the way everybody throws the word around "California Car" when 9 out of 10 it doesn't even have the California emission code on fender tag.  :brickwall: :brickwall: :RantExplode: :RantExplode: LEON.

I thought six packs weren't available until '70!

Nice car but a bit overpriced.

:Twocents:

Pretty much anything from any classic car dealership is liable to be 20-50% overpriced.  It's weird if it doesn't happen.

Nice car but a bit overpriced.

There needs to be a  " V " in the vin code for it to be a true 6 pack car
next project 70 Charger FJ5 green

I think he was just wondering where a six pack intake would have come from before 1970...as the ad states six pack intake from 69.
Too much Charger on the brain.  :icon_smile_big:

Dino

Right! I didn't think you could get a six pack on a 69, I was unaware of the availability of them on other models since I'm a Charger only kinda guy.   :icon_smile_big:

Thanks for the clarification crj.

Thank you everyone who gave input.  Especially about the Reno connection, thank you Don.

Found the auction site, says sold but no price.

My friend is bidding, says he's serious, won't say what his top price is.  I'll post when I know more.

If he buys it please ensure he registers with the Registry as the new owner in case other info on the car pops up in the future.

Homerr

I can't help but wonder if it is a 383-6 with the original motor and 440 sticker on the air cleaner.
