Can someone tell me how to remove the C shaped quarter window belt moulding trim? I'm having trouble removing this piece. Thanks for any info

Moeggenpar

anyone? I'm not sure how to remove the center rivet  Thanks

The rivet is for decoration, it doesn't hold that piece on.  You have to remove the upper window seal and channel, the gutter trim and the belt quarter panel seal and belt molding.  Hope this helps.  WINGNUT

What are we working on here?  The picture is the size of a postage stamp.

what the other guys say  :yesnod:

from your picture  , looks like a second generation ?   if so , you need to remove  ...

1 rear seat ( bottom & back )
2 window winder / crank handles
3 arm rests
4 rear quarter  inner interior  trim panel & upper pad ,
5 inner upper pad frame ,
6 slacken off rear side glass  lower stop , ( sometimes the factory set the lower stop ,  high enough so no need to do this )
7 lower rear side glass as far as it will go , or just enough to expose the outer weather strip seal ,
8 remove said seal / outer weather strip ( if original you will prolly destroy it , trying to remove it )
9 you will then see 3  phillips head screws , each side !   attaching belt moulding   , remove these screws  ,
10  then carefully lift &  wiggle trim to separate from C corner part first or carefully remove  them both together ...
Feel free to post any relevant picture you think we all might like to see in the threads below!

I tried all of that and even added blinker fluid. Still no luck.  :shruggy:

even blinker fluid !!     ah but did you try a left handed screw driver ! ... :scratchchin:

in all seriousness  ,  I think  on 68 or early 68 cars that rivet is replaced with , phillips screw   , but you have mentioned already  , its a rivet  , so ignore  what I've just said ,  may be someone / previous owner  used some butyl tape of some description & stuck the C piece in ,  thinking its better than  the way the factory done it ( was a small gap between the C piece & sail panel from the factory )

just had another thought  ,
may be a previous owner has somehow  used a proper rivet , in place of the factory dummy blind rivet  )

if you still cant remove it ! post a few pictures  ,  & we will have a look to see whats what & try to figure out whats happening  :scratchchin:
