i dunno chargerpunk, but there are some really interesting details like whats in the fender scallops?.. power window switches?.. why ain't the steering wheel got holes in the spokes and who's idea was the japanese style location of the rear view mirrors?...
then there's that rear stripe....  :-\

i've seen other pics of this Showcar on the stand from back in the day... Personally i much prefer the '70 Supercharger remodle...  :yesnod:

The car is still around, it now has 1970 tallback buckets which stick above the rear flairs and are odd lookin with the headrest versus the original bodywork. It was, as said, a styling exercise by Elwood Engel. Did the show circuit in mid late '68. I think it is repainted from the white IIRC.
The Daytona was a completely different creature created by windtunnels and the knowledge of aerodynamics at that time.

Note the dual gas caps.  I just posted over in the E-bay section a 1969 Charger R/T that's for sale that appears to have a dual gas cap option or it was cleverly grafted.  I wonder if there were some cars that made it out of Chrysler with the dual caps.

MetallicA

not likely since they were cut out of the design just before production

THE CHARGER PUNK

it says white with blue trim so i suppose that the stripe is blue??? and what type of gascaps do u guys suppose they are, like from what after, market company makes em the same lookin, and anyone have the slightest idea what those are in the doors?

Man that's one fugly car...I just don't like it.  :rotz:  That windshield is goofy looking. It should be called the decapitator. :Twocents:
