Will a cam from a small block fit in a big block

Was finally going to order my cam online and noticed they were out of the cam for a big block, but they do have the same exact size one listed for small blocks in stock.  I would still order the one for the big block, of course, but was just curious.

no they are different,just one of the reasons is the distrbuter drive gear location.bb in the front sb in the rear.

When getting parts if there is two different part # that means there is two different parts.  They are not the same, thats way there is different #. The Oldsmobile's engines use the same cam and all have the same part #.
