does 266274 still exist? if so, i can make the owner very happy.

my daytona's original block is long gone so the vin on whatever 440 goes back in it is immaterial. i've had this engine sitting in the car for thirty years and never knew the numbers on it until today. i think i'm reading them correctly but will crawl back under it to try and clean off the rest of the pad when i get a chance.

long story short - if this is the engine to your car, it's yours for a good replacement

Hmmm I didn't know they stamped the XS in the block, I though it was just like the last 6 digits?

It's a 1969 model year thing, lots of them (but not all) have full VINs. The rest have 8 digits.

this engine would have been pulled back in an era where no one thought twice about scrapping a charger rt, so i'm thinking the original car is long gone.

the 440 is plenty stout and once even had a tunnel ram on it. a buddy had it in his 1976 short bed 4x4 that he drag raced (300 foot on dirt) for a while. when that hobby ended, that buddy traded it to yet another friend of mine for a fresh, stock 440. it then went into that second friend's 1969 gtx, which i later traded him a kawasaki 750 motorcycle for. i pulled the drive train from the gtx before selling the car in the mid 1980's. there was never any cause to check the numbers on it, and i was surprised to see a full charger vin on it yesterday.

notice the second hood that was cut out for tunnel ram laying upside down on the gtx. no clue why the washtub was there, lol

i guess at the very least a charger r/t vin can be added to the database.
