Lookin for some input on a project I'm putting together.
I have noticed there is a Intake Manifold gasket Set for my 400.
I believed there was only a Valleypan/Intake Tin gasket (One Piece) installed on
my motor when I disassembled it. I assume the separate intake gaskets are for some
other motor configuration, I plan on just putting the Valleypan/intake (one Piece) back on.
Anybody know the diff?
Thanks.
Jason.

The valley pan is the gasket itself... No need for anything else

I've never been able to get the holes to line up using anything but just the valley pan.

I assume you are talking about additional paper gaskets for the intake? Some engines need them and some don't. There are lots of factors that go into it, but block machining, head machining, head gasket thickness, intake brand and I'm sure there are others dictate to a certain degree if you need them or not. set your intake on the motor with just the metal valley pan gasket and then sight down the bolt holes and see if they line up perfectly, if the intake holes are a little lower than the head bolt holes, then you might get away with using one paper gasket on each side of the intake.
