Power steering box seal replacement?

The input shaft seal on my steering box is leaking really bad.  Is that something easily replaceable?

Looks like I could have room to do it without removing the box.  Anything I need to be aware of when taking it apart?

Question 1---Yes is is easy to replace-- HOWEVER-- for it to be easy two special tools are needed to make it so.

The FSM is clear about how to do it with the "special tools"

BTW their are two seals there and of course both need to be replaced.

I am a do it myself sort and would have no problem putting in new seals BUT taking the old ones out could become a big mess without the right tools.

 Even if the steering gear was on a bench it would be tough and tedious without making some sort of tool/tools for the task.

I did this two weeks ago, you need a special puller from Auto Zone. Buy the rebuild kit, you will mangle the bearing trying to get the seal out. No more leaks on mine. You might as well rebuild it for the 45 dollars worth of parts, instead of 250-300 for a rebuilt one. Just make sure it's clean, and be careful putting the sliding vanes back in the housing, they are a bitch.

I can actually get a rebuilt unit for $150...maybe it's worth it.

I did mine in the car from the top. Had to get under car and use vice grips to pull the end off by wiggling it don't try and turn it.
The big castle nut i used a long flat punch to loosen it. it comes off first from the top.
The hardest part to replace was a very small oring that goes on the end of the shaft in the box, that the end slides onto.
Getting the old oring off was easy, getting the new oring on was a bitch. Until i cam up with this idea so easy.What i did was cut down an old car aerial and slid the oring on it up until it was a size slightly larger than the shaft in the box. I then slid the hollow aerial over the shaft end and then pushed the oring onto the shaft and set it in its groove.
