Stock air cleaner?

Okay guys, I've got a probably very stupid question for you:

Where does the air get into the cleaner on a stock 440 or 383 magnum? It looks as if the top and bottom plates form a seal and not much air would get in. The reason I ask is because I'm working on converting my engine bay to a stock look and I have an aftermarket air cleaner. Does the stock one constrict the air intake? Any info is appreciated guys and sorry for the dumb question.

Your Charger should have come with a unsilenced air cleaner, air comes in from underneath.

Just noticed the one on Classic Industries doesn't even come with a filter. That kind of money could be well spent many places! I'm going to check out the "for sale" section and maybe post a want ad for an old one in need of some TLC. Chances are I'll probably break down and get it. Thanks for the links dudes. Anyone have one taking up space?

Is anything for a mopar not expensive.... :icon_smile_big:

The answer is simply "no"! Haha. But I've gotten some really good deals on old stuff from people on here and FBBO.

I still need to post up a pic of my current air cleaner, sorry about that lol. I am having a hell of a time finding a 13" air filter online for this repop air cleaner I received! Anyone have any ideas?

I have a Carquest 87044 air filter element in my stock air cleaner assembly.  Crosses to a Wix 42044 on Wix's website.  Measures about 12.5-12.75 inches in O.D.  I'm running a Holley Street Dominator manifold and have no issues with the hood closing.

Thanks for the info, I was able to get one here tomorrow with that part number. It will do until I can afford a K&N washable filter haha
