Last week I realized the V.H.A. Canteen (restaurant) at work is a joke. I don't eat there often, I'm not much on lunch anyway. So hey find a lunch box that's durable and can be cleaned. After checking Amazon's listings I was in sticker shock...86 bucks for a painted steel box with a thermos?
I found a new Stanley on eBay for 50.00 shipped, lowest price for the set so I bought it. It will pay for it's keep but I'm still kinda shaking my head, AMD could make a killing on this stuff.
I see the guys at work buy that crappy canteen food 2-3 times a day @ 5-8 bucks per meal, and wonder why they are broke before payday. (You can get a card to charge stuff and they take it out of your pay.)  I'll be eating steak and salad for a fraction of the cost.  :yesnod:

Since I moved to the usa about 10 years ago,  I've noticed that  most people here don't mind paying up for convenience.
They rather pay more and be good to go than paying less and having to put time and effort in to things.

Very true nowadays. Now that I'm older and plumped up a bit I gotta avoid crappy food choices more than the cost/convenience factor. For a V.H.A. hospital most food available is terrible for you AND overpriced.  :eek2:

That's pretty cool! Although I would have no use for it, but still cool.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I have no use for it either,  it's just a decorative piece in my living room.  :icon_smile_big:

Why not a thermal bag?  Throw in a re-usable ice pack.  If a bottle of water doesn't work for you, pick up a thermos at a yard sale.

$10 for the whole shooting match.

The bags get dirty and PIA to keep clean, food gets smashed ect.  :eek2: I did look to see what was new but just decided they had this figured out in the 50's so went with what works.  :2thumbs:

I got a nice soft lunch box at a yard sale. works awesome.

Now for the Steel Lunch Boxes,  I picked this gem up Saturday at a yard sale for 3 bucks. I couldn't believe it.

I just carry mine in a small Igloo cooler. A few ice packs, wash/rinse it out every so often & that's it.
Much more durable than the old flimsy tin lunchboxes.

My lunch box came in early, the seller expressed mailed and to my surprise I got a Navy Blue instead of green!  This thing will outlive me pretty sure.   No more crappy eats for me!  :2thumbs:
