hey guys what are your thoughts ? stock 1968 dodge charger drum brakes will 275 work up front ?

Lennard

It's all about the wheels off set...but I have no clue cause my knowledge doesn't go beyond 15" wheels. ;D

The brakes likely won't matter - it's actually harder to fit things with giant discs than with drums.

I've seen 245 and 255s on front but a 275 is rather large (not impossible though). It's basically all about offset/backspacing. I believe your clearance with a 15" wheel/tire will be most limited by the spindle and upper control arm. A bigger wheel will buy you some clearance around the steering and suspension. If you have to push things out you'll end up hitting the wheel well on the fender. There's a tool (Eastwood sells one version) that will let you mock up wheel/tire combinations before you buy. It's probably worth the money in this situation.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Iam looking to get 17 in wheels too. Ive read that anything bigger than 245 or 255 we many run into steering issues let along some rubbing. Iam going with 275/40 rear and 245/45 front.

With proper measuring, you can fit big tires on these cars. I have 275-40-18s up front and 295-45-18s out back. I can fit 2" more tire out back but I haven't seen a 335-35-18 listed anywhere.
My rear tires only rub on hard bumps. The fronts only contact the frame rails.

I have 245-40-17 up front on my 69 and 275-40-17 out back, tried the 275s on the front and had no problem, plenty of frame clearance and no rubbing on fenders.
Running a 17-10 magnum 500 with 5" back space on the 275s , 17-8" with 4 1/2" back space up front

Hard Charger

i had 245's before the rebuild but they rubbed the front of the fender when i got the car together again. running 225's now.

would have to think it is the height of the front end. maybe i didn't adjust the t-bars up as much as before.

i doubt the 275 will work. unless the car is jacked up or very low.
