TTI exhaust experience.

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with what would be, on paper, a simple install.

2.5" H-pipe system for my 383 70 Charger off HP manifolds.
The right side went on perfectly. The tailpipe coming out centered beneath the back-up light.  Looks good, angle cut is straight etc..

The left side: first of all, a note to modify your kickdown bell crank pivot thingy, by cutting it and welding it and drilling a new hole in a round hardened shaft etc...because the new headpipe is going to hit it.
Seemed weird to have to modify this without headers but OK.

I tried what they suggested... I eventually got around that in my own way which was easier and still avoiding a Lokar cable.
Then came the left tailpipe install. I dont know if it is bent wrong or what, but it proved impossible for it to fit like the right one. Hours and hours of trying.
I cant make it straight and come out under the backup light because it hits the gas tank further forward at the bend over the axle. I checked my tank position, it's good.

So I can make it clear everything but it is further left than it should be, not quite straight, and too low using the same bracket as on the right. I had to modify that last bracket also to make it all suck up closer to the valance.

Anyway something is goofy here. I am almost sure it's not me this time.

I've installed two TTI systems for E-bodies and the tailpipes don't fit correctly on them either, ended up with slightly cocked muffler hangars both times. My other Challenger has cut down B-body Muffler Tech tailpipes and they fit better.

Thanks- I think the angle cut at the end was done on a friday afternoon and is messing with my mind.

It naturally will fall right under the backup light but it is terribly crooked and looks really stupid

I could fix it by installing some rectangle tips and positioning it however needed I guess.   :brickwall:

On my '71 Challenger I installed a complete TTI system (headers, 3" x-pipe exhaust) and the tips were off too.  I had to cut the exhaust, rotate and re-weld it to get the tips to sit correctly.

Bought TTI headers for my Hemi swap and the passenger side fit good..but the driver side was not right..literally had to dent the header to clear the power steering box.  :RantExplode:

OK thanks all. Appreciate the feedback !

Unfortunately I don't have all the cutting / welding stuff which is why I bought TTI in the first place.   :slap:

Yep - I had to dent two tubes on my headers for my 6.1 swap....    they hit the AC compressor (factory placement) and also his their own TTI motor mount brackets....       For the >$1000 cost I shouldn't have to be doing that.

Oh well - another deal breaker....    TIG welder and practice from now on.

For the money, they should require nothing. Just my opinion. I bought the summit 3" mopar kit years back dirt cheap on sale. Fit beautifully with the only modification needed being the left header/collector attachment. Cant complain there since longtubes end in different locations brand to brand. Fwiw, i recall summit saying they are bent for hookers and i run heddman. Wasnt a big deal, just a simple cut, angle, fill and weld.

Yep, hooker super comps. Kit has been on my car for a long time. No rattles, interference or rust.

Not just your opinion, mine as well.   I figured using stock manifolds this would have been a no-brainer.

Now I see the guy selling complete systems on ebag for $350 and people having no issues.   :rotz:

Oh well...

I bought just the head pipes and h-pipe from the guy on ebay and it fit great, no complaints.  :2thumbs:

Oh I coulda saved $500 and 5 hours of time laying on my back?  thanks a million !   ;)

Dang it! I (almost) knew it! I nearly bought that ebay system, but it was just too cheap...can't be good at $350, right?  ::)

I got burned by marketing I tell ya!
