Cut out pretty much most of the front inner fender as the recess for the battery tray was hitting the tire at full steering lock and I wanted to make a filler panel out of aluminum for the air cleaner tube. Made a new patch piece next to the shock tower to allow the flat filler panel to be bolted to the inner fender. I'll probably beadrolll the aluminum filler piece but my harbor freight beadroller can't do that thick of aluminum.

GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

I'm gonna make a tighter rubber seal around air tube, just need to get a sheet of rubber. Got my twin pump, supposed to be good for 1500hp and my regulator. Well I have my whole fuel system but it's mostly just fittings and lines. I still need to get fuel filters

alfaitalia

Very nice.....better than porn for petrolheads like me!!!

Man, that's a cool project. Wish I was comfortable and knew how to do sheet metal work like that!! BAD AZZ!!!! :popcrn:

So, with the air filter location, I guess this car would have to be parked in the rain? I know you live in the desert, so not a consideration?

cbrestorations

I'm gonna make a splash shield panel behind the air filter

Kern Dog

My guess is that it is a cooler air source there than under the hood or near the radiator.  :2thumbs:

alfaitalia

Yep.....and as  very rough guide on the average motor you get about a 1% increase in HP for every 10 degrees you lower the intake air temp. That why I laugh when I see modern cars that remove the standard airbox that pulls cool air from behind the grille to fit a "cold air" cone filter intake right next to the hot engine or right by the radiator!!!

Did a few things today, had to make brackets for the heat exchanger to mount to core support, make a bracket to mount fuel pump and welded bigger fittings to the fuel rails.

A lot of used parts, Cheap as possible?  Huh?  That was way back.

n efficient inter-cooled Axial flow compressor, i.e. KB or Whipple works wonders for big time grunt.

Sure have a lot of time effort parts and skill into "Daisy"

You know, 2nd Gen Chargers clean up real well.

Ever think about sealing up the body & rattle can flat black till you finally decide she should be pretty?

I'm sure the OP can speak for himself but my impression is that he actually embraces the ratty look of it.
Sometimes it is fun owning a car that allows you the freedom to drive it without worrying about scratching it.

I'm not gonna paint it, but if I change my mind I was thinking curious yellow

JR

The patina is perfect, leave it as is!

I enjoy seeing the juxtaposition of a worn exterior on top of new parts and quality metalwork. It's interesting.

Besides, any car that actually spends time on a track will inevitably be covered with rock chips and scuff marks, anyway.

If you think this build is being done "cheap as possible" then you must live a wonderful life.  This car may not win car shows, but he has spent quite a large amount of money on drive train.  When you count labor (because he could have been making money working on customer's cars) then he has really got a large investment in this car.  If it were mine, I definitely wouldn't call it cheap.    :Twocents:

When the car is turn key done I will have around 40k in it

alfaitalia

When mine is done that's about my target figure.....unfortunately that pounds (£) not dollars!!! ....even though a £ in not worth much more than a dollar these days....thanks for that BREXIT!! But mine includes paint (the ONLY thing I'm farming out....)....everything else I'm doing myself.......even the engine build (buying in the parts, block etc of course...not quite able to cast my own!!!). So considering CBREST has no paint/bodywork to fund and does everything himself Id say the bill is far from cheap.....no doubt that motor/blower combo ate a lot of the cash. Looking very cool though!

I soon realized horsepower ain't cheap when done correctly to be reliable. Just my fuel system I have almost 3k in, clutch to hold 1000hp is 2k, engine itself about 7k, blower alone 8k, engine management system 2500, Used jerico trans 2k, cooling system I have 500 in (used NASCAR stuff), brakes I have 3k in, wheels and tires 3300, suspension around 3k, the car itself was 6500, interior I have 2k in (not done yet either), exhaust I have 2k in....dammit, I just added the numbers and I'll be well over 40k when done lol. Stupid numbers

alfaitalia

8k for the blower alone? Ouch. I'm using your last post as evidence to my wife that my used 8-71 was cracking value at £750 to my door...even though it needs a rebuild ! Will make little difference though...she will still give me "that look" whenever I mention money and the Charger in the same sentence. I'm sure many of you married guys out there know exactly the look I mean.

I know the look, that's all I'll say, she may be reading this, lol.
