Looking at buying my first enclosed trailer for my 69 Charger.  Came across a 24 foot trailer, that is 7.5 ft wide.  I had been looking for a 24/8.5 trailer, but this one is just too low priced to ignore.  For those of you 2nd generation Charger owners out there who have enclosed trailers, Will I be able to even get out of the car when I move it into this wide of a trailer?

Thanx,
Mike

Does it have a side door? Is it cheap enough that you can have one installed? The length is great but even a "wide" trailer sucks to get in and out of with these long car doors. The Charger is a little over 6' wide I believe so if you center it you're only going to have about 7-8" on each side - meaning the actual amount of free space for you to squeeze out of with the door open will be maybe 4" and it will be at the back of the seat/door pillar area.

Your other option is to always winch it in/out - but a winch may cost more than a door.

Another important thing to watch out for are the wheel wells. How much space do you have between them and how high are they? Sometimes you can't open the car door because it won't clear these. I think that's more of a problem on shorter trailers though. You should be far enough forward in a 24 footer to miss them. However, you can always use 2x6s under the wheels to gain clearance if it's a problem.

Imo, whether its a 7.5 or 8.5, you will be climbing out the window if you are built like me.... 6'2, 250

Drive the charger in, mark the wall where you need a door and cut it out and make the door yourself.   :Twocents:
If you have the ability of course.    :2thumbs:

Mine is 24X8.5 and no side door. I installed a winch. Much easier. I can't do the Duke move anymore and slide out the window. LOL. the 24' length seems to work well. Plenty of extra room for tools, parts, luggage, etc.

The Best Parts at a Fair Price

Went ahead and bought the 24 x 7.5 trailer, and will install a winch.  The trailer has 5k axles, and the price was too good to pass up.  I will however need to do some interior rehab.

Thanx for all the inputs!
