Window regulator rollers

I'm swapping my manual regulators for the power kind.  The power regs don't have any rollers on them, front nor rear.  Eternal optimist that I am I was hoping I could use the rollers that are on the manual regs...but I don't see how I can pop these off without busting them.  Can this be done or am I looking for new rollers and how would these be installed?

how did the rollers end up missing on the PW regulators? I bet they were already broken off or they disintegrated while someone was sandblasting the arms....

new rollers are available, not sure how yer gonna get 'em back over the stud though

Dino

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of.  I bought these regs without the rollers.  I blasted and painted them but neglected to do my homework on the rollers themselves.  That was my bad.  I hope there's a simple solution.

think it might be a case of  grinding the back of the roller stud   , where its staked & remove it  , then fit the nylon / plastic roller on the roller stud  ,  drill & tap a thread in the roller stud     , & use a bolt with locktite  :scratchchin: : may be they do a roller kit with the plastic & metal parts , &  you have to re stake the back of the new roller stud   to hold it in place  :scratchchin:  TBH , ive never looked into this  , as mine were still perfect , seen rear kits  , but they are a different set up
don't thing a plastic / nylon roller will fit over the stud head , while  still fitted to the regulator arm  :scratchchin:

sorry cant be much help  :icon_smile_blackeye:

TT you're always helpful.

I think that will indeed be the way to go.  I'm thinking I may be able to grind off both studs and weld the one with the roller onto the power regulator.  I found a kit for $45 that has the parts so if this doesn't work I'll have to get that.  I'm not sure how to secure the new stud but I'll find out.

The rears are just straight studs I believe so the rollers should just pop on.

Dino done something like this before
Get your new rollers first
Grinder with thin cutting blade , I cut on the press lines of that stamped head , this way gives it room to squeeze pin straight to remove it ,
Once the roller on , I put in press with a large cold chisel tore spread end of pin
Couple spot welds on cut lines to stop it coming loose again
Sounds easy but took a while , and #%*& not even my car ,
I think I saw these pins new , if it comes to me where, will PM
You

TT pm'd me he link to the kit.  Thanks TT!

It comes with the rollers, rivets, some gaskets an plastic rivets.  I only need rollers and rivets but nobody seems to sell them separately.  Looks like I'm spending another 50 bucks...

There are lots of rolers for sale but they all seem to be for the quarters.  If I can find the rollers to fit the fronts then i can carefully remove the rivets, slide the rollers on, and weld the rivets back on.  Or I can sacrifice the manual regulators and use those rollers.  Maybe I can sell the regs and make them pay for the door hardware kit but I doubt it.

Thanks Bob

I can't find the ones I need though.  The rollers are just over 1" wide, 1/2" thick and have a 3/8" hole.  I'll either have to wreck the rivets on the manual regs to reuse the rollers or spend the $50 for the whole kit.

I don't think I want to ruin my manual regulators.  Seems like a shame, they're in good shape.  Maybe I can get a few bucks for them.  Dammit....

Ordered the kit and added new latch screws to my order as they're all toast.  At least I'll save on shipping!
