the producers of dukes of hazzard should have hired this guy instead of wrecking so many cars and there would have been more chargers around today

The TV series actually did resort to minatures in the 7th (last) season.  Knight Rider, Airwolf, and other shows of the era were using them for cheaper costs.  

But it's not as cheap as you might think.  The cars can't be too small for filming reasons, and that forces the mini backdrop scenery to be HUGE.    





The price of a (real size) '69 Charger in the early 1980s was nothing to Warner Bros.  The price of setting up & filming a stunt was far more than the car itself was worth.  


Looking at the numbers, "Dukes" wrecked about 1/1000th of all the 68-70 Chargers made.  The effect was tiny.
