Stock rocker arms on a hydraulic roller cam in a big block

Curiosity has struck. Has anyone out there used stock rocker arms on a hydraulic roller cam? If so, how'd it work out for ya?

So, I didn't think it was a common practice. I suppose it could be done on small duration cams, but to me the retro-fit hydraulic roller cam concept is like having a beautiful and very expensive girl friend that is always cheating on you.

I dont see why it couldnt be done? As long as you measure correctly for lifter preload. Ive never run a mild roller. How are the spring pressures on a small roller compared to the more typical race cams? Are the pressures low enough that the stock rockers would live? But like you said, it seems like a waste, which leads me to my question of why do you ask??? Is there a test mule or project you are working on?

No intention of ever running a retro-fit hydraulic roller in anything of mine. I has more to do with the cost of hydraulic roller verses a solid roller and a misconception of maintenance requirements.

The misconception is there on mechanical vs hydraulic in flat tappets too. Never did understand why everyone is afraid of mechanical.  :scratchchin:
   The motor in the fiancĂ© s nova is origonal from 72' other then the large solid cam in it from roughly 1974. The rockers get checked annually and have not required adjustment in years. Both engines in the race cars get checked frequently throughout the race season and are always in spec, the 572 and 426 are both over .700 lift. I think the 572 may be over .800, have to check the cards.
