I'd prefer not to cut any sheetmetal. I haven't removed seats and carpet yet but it looks like I have to cut a hole for automatic tranny rods. I expected to weld some console mounts but...do I have to drill or cut out some shifter rod holes as well? Thanks.

One hole for the shifter linkage rod.  Pic here: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,16500.0.html

Ideally you can have that piece of sheet metal from a donor car to weld into yours.  That way you can cut a disc out of your floor, weld in the donor part, and keep the removed disc to revert it back to stock if ever needed.
