I answered an ad for a 1972 Dodge Challenger for sale.  The supposed owner said the car was in London at first, but it now sounds as if the owner is in London and the car is in Los Angeles.  I simply asked the person for some pics of the car and if there were any rust issues.  The following is what I got back in response.  Scary.

Hello again,

I am glad that you are still interested in my car.Sorry but here i dont have a phone. I will explain you how we can make this deal legit and without taking any risks. We will use Safepaysolutions protection And it will be like an escrow but a lot more easier and faster.
They will contact you and tell you everything after I will open the
case and before we move forward with anything. So first you will have to make a deposit of $2,000 from the total amount of $6,000 and give the details to them. They will let me know when you did that and give the "go ahead" (but they will not give me any money or any details of the deposit). After that I will move forward and make the shipping. And only after you will receive the car they will release to me the details so that I can get the money.
The rest of the money you will have to send it to me after your 10 days of inspection. So this is how it will be done. Please reply me and tell me if you want to own this car and I will immediately open a Safepaysolutions case.
Here are exact steps you will have to make:
1. You will have to give me your full name and shipping address
2. You will be contacted by Safepaysolutions
3. You will make a deposit of $2,000
4. I will start the shipping  proces
5. In 4 to 6 days the car and all the documents that you need to pass it on to your name will arrive to the adress that you provided to
Safepaysolutions.
6. You will have 10 days to inspect and test drive the car
7. If you will buy the car you will send the rest of the money and
the car will be yours.
The deposit you make will be kepped by Safepaysolutions until you will
receve and inspect the car and in case you don't receive the car  Safepaysolutions will refund you 100%.There is no risc in this deal. The transaction is simple so everything should go as i planed.I have to tell you i will sell the car to the first one who starts this deal by sending the deposit. This way, we both will be secured, the deal is legit and your money secured, so relax and send me your full name and adress so I can open a case for this transaction at Safepaysolutions. Email me if you are still interessed.
The car is on LAX airport ready to be shipped.
Thank you for your time and patience

Shakey

Anytime someone tells me to "relax", I get uptight.  Especially if it is a complete stranger trying to sell me something.

If the car is at LAX, IIRC Lee, you are in Southern California, tell him you'd like to go and see it.

"The car is in LAX in the airport ready for shipment"...........by airfreight???? Yeah right! I would do exactly what Shakey suggests. Tell him "wow, what a coincidence, I'm going to be in LAX next week. Tell me where the car is. I want to see it in person...."
"Mother should I trust the government?........... Pink Floyd "Mother"

I bet if you do that you will not get another response.

Ya, do what Shakey said..ask the guy to go to the airport to see it. If he says yes, then theres no scam. If he says no, SCAM!

As soon as I read this E-mail response, the word SCAM came to mind.  I just wanted to share this with you guys to see if anyone else had seen this kind of text before.  If I had known about this a week ago, when I was at LAX, I could have checked it out, but I live about 10 hours away from L.A.  It's not worth my time.  Thanks for all the comments.
