Quick question guys,
My Charger was ratty but unmolested when I bought her and while I was disassembling I noticed my sail emblems are the same as my tail panel emblems (Charger script w/arrow). All the pictures I've seen not to mention the AMD/Classic Industries catalogs, etc..) always show just Charger in script letters.. Anyone know the deal? Early Build (8-8-68)?, 3 drink lunch? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Someone may have stuck a 66-67 style one on there.

That's what I though too but both sides had those emblems, the holes are factory drilled and there was vinyl top material behind the emblems. My Charger was parked in 82 and the top was ripped off sometime after so I'm 90% sure it would have come from the factory that way.  I'm seriously considering keeping it, just for the unique aspect of it. I'm not anywhere close to needing emblems yet but I am welding holes shut and obviously that emblem requires a third hole....decisions, decisions..

BLK 68 R/T

I could be wrong - but I thought R/T cars came with just the Charger emblem and non R/T cars got the Charger emblem along with the arrow?

Not true for the b pillars  ;)

Those are not 66-67 style as the first gen has the same script on sail panel as 68-69 except WITH seperate the arrow. First gens never had the arrow attached to the script.
Here is a pic I have had for reference for some time.
So to answer your question, if the top was replaced that would be a clue that these were tampered with on your car, probably all that was available at the time. IMHO they are not original to the car. You should have (2) of 2841886 yes, the pic says 7, and it is still available from Chrysler part # P2841886.

Hi, l have seen pictures in 68 charger sales brochures of cars with the arrow sail panel emblem. You said that your car was a early build with a 8/8/68 build date, did you mean a 8/8/67 build date? May be possible that some early build date cars came through with the 67 arrow emblems? Brad

NickJ

No, it's 8-8-68. It's a 69.  The whole thing has me stumped. I ordered the correct emblems today and will just weld up the holes I no longer need. Thanks for the input fellas!

Also for future reference 66-67 (2842886/2842849) vs 73-74 (3504807/3506410)
66-7 = 3 mounting pins on script, 2 arrow. 68 up 2 mounting pins both. 73-4 all stick on.
3680687 is 72 up trunk emblem

And as far as I've noticed, it looks like none of the General Lees were shipped with any sail panel emblems at all.   :D

I've seen plenty of pictures of your set up in old ads, but I think most are of '68's.  Weird things made their way out of the factory back then.  Having the arrow on a '69 sail panel would most likely add about 500k to its value. :nana:  it probably came that way. I'd just restore it as built.......
