Ebay has reproduction ones for under $10 US.
When someone is absolutely 100% sure they know exactly what your problem is and how to fix it, it's time to ask someone else!

Is that like a stick-on decal deal or the real deal emblem?  Cheapest I could find was about $40 before shipping...

It's real cast metal, but the red and black parts are some kind of rubberized acrylic.  But they actually look pretty good for as cheap as they are.

Here is a link to one on ebay

That's a stick on with 3M tape, good idea though.
No that is not a stick on. Look at the pictures and you will see the mounting studs and backing washers and nuts.  I have one and can assure you it is NOTa stick on.

The sticky tape is to allow you to mount it in other locations, but it is a bolt on design.  Here is a picture of tbe back of mine. See the studs?

Is that one curved like an original or flat?

I just compared to one of my originals on my headlight cover and it is pretty close.  Here is a picture of the front on an angle so you can see for yourself.  Not really rounded, more of a stepped side. There are a few different ones on ebay, but I think the ones with the studs are all the same.  Maybe not?

The headlight emblem (flat) and the rear emblem (a slight curve) would be different.

I don't think the Chinese manufacturers went to that level of detail, but to tell the truth I didn't know it was different so I didn't look for it either.
