so...i bought a 70 charger from a guy who before i purchased sent pictures of the car. from those pictures i could see the trunk was junk and i then asked how the frame rails were, his responce was they are solid. i also asked how the rockers were, his responce was also solid. well when it showed up on the transport truck the car looked as if it had 1000lbs in the trunk. when i looked under i found the leaf springs had pushed thru what was left of the floor pan and twisted the decomposed frame rails. the rockers were also trashed. i guess my rant is, never take someones word for condition and always ask for specific pictures.

WTF and LMAO.....gotta love people who say, 'SOLID' hahahahah....im sorry to hear your ordeal though, but have to laugh at the guy  saying, 'SOLID'  :hah:

VegasCharger

That's total BS from that seller Chris  :flame:

Either he was too lazy to get off his lazy A$$ to take pics for you to realize that the frame was toast so he just guessed by saying that they were solid. Or he knowingly knew that they were NOT solid but lied just to get a sale. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have bought it knowing that the frame rails were rotted out. Or for a much lower price.

Good luck

yea it sucks, i called him and explained the issue and at first he said he would pay for replacement rails, leaf spring mounts and rockers but then after i gave him the quote to fix, he's M.I.A.  i could fix all panels and the car itself isnt all that bad, no rust around windows, trunk gutters are perfect, door jams good and under hood is good. its just rear rails, trunk pan, tail panel and wheel wells are junk

Cncguy

I remember when that was considered unrepairable.

Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

myk

I'm surprised you bought a car without seeing it for yourself...

bummer  :icon_smile_blackeye:  ,     everyone sees things differently  ,  especially with cars , if the guy who is doing the describing  is not a body / paint , mechanic   guy  ,  always try to see pictures or look your self !!

There are differences in opinion but I've never met anybody who describes a frame as "solid" when the leaf springs are ripped up through the floor.  The seller was lying.

Baldwinvette77

Looks like perfect back-half candidate  :popcrn: Either that or one of those full frame pro touring conversions  :coolgleamA:

The only thing to do is lie better and pawn it off on someone else for a mild profit.

Oops. Did I say that out loud?  :P

the car is worth what i have into it, and i may just get my money back out of it or just fix it, i dont know yet. i just wanted to do a quick cheap resto and drop my 5.7 hemi in it with the 5 speed auto and have a cruiser to drive since my other cars are long term projects. i picked up the 5.7 hemi and 5 speed auto out of a 2006 charger for only $900 complete with pcm and harness. gonna port the heads and mild cam for a good street thumper.

im gonna keep and fix her, its a cool color combo and the car really isnt bad except the trunk and tail panel. floors are good, even all areas around glass, under hood and door jams. i think the color combo sold it for me. original burnt orange metalic with orange interior. i was told it was brown when i bought it because it had 1/4" of dust everywhere, glad to find out its a much cooler color. i have a 2 door shell of a 70 satellite i can just use as a donor car to fix this charger

well on another positive note, i found the car has a 3.91 sure grip 3rd member. that will be perfect for my 5 speed

cbrestorations

its nice to get that turd of an engine out, plus that nasty old rat infested carpet and interior out so i can breath. now i can breath without gagging and  start making progress. every project should start with air freshner

Pat1973charger

DAwesome! I didn't know there was a orange interior offered! I dig it, mostly because it's way different! Good luck on your build!  :2thumbs:
