hello everyone
i want to paint the stripes on the trunk of my 68. all i can find are vinyl stickers. That didn't help with my roadrunner. they peeled and i didn't like it. My painter told me to find either stencils or something that they can put on the car to paint it and not stick it. Any help with be awesome

I'd pull out some 1/4 " fine line tape & make my own stripes how ever you want them. Any good painter could do this. Do you got pics of the old vinyl stripes you had? LEON.

its a project car
any suggestions

If the painter needs a Stencil find another painter. No Insult Intended. LEON.

When my 'Bee was painted back in 1989 we just sprayed the ass end of the car white first, then taped off for the stripe before spraying the Blue as I didn't want a peeling lifting decal either. We did use the Super Bee circle decal though and then cleared over top of it all. Still there after 26 years and currently probably the best part of the paint job..  :brickwall:

Hmm...the decals lift and peel?  Assuming the car is stored indoors or at least covered, how long would it take for this deterioration to happen?

I used this pic from a member on this site. Just have a good painter tape them off using 1/4" and 3/4" masking tape. Remember the stripes aren't straight going across the trunk. they change direction in the middle. the second pic is how they should look when taped off. It also doesn't take a lot more effort to continue the strips down into the trunk for that custom look. I extended mine down later after initially taping them off as seen below.
