I've been looking at that piece as well...

That is what I have on my car. The hood itself seems well built and really sturdy and no one can tell it's glass until you look at the turn signal area. If I remember correctly the rear curve of the hood was off by quite a bit by the upper cowell and needed extensive work. They blamed it on the fact I replaced the upper cowell. We actually layed the glass hood next to the steel one and measured it and it was higher rear center by almost 1.5 inches! They offered to take it back and by then my body guy had "corrected" the problem. Not sure how he corrected it but it's done and looks great.

Yikes, that's a big defect.  I was planning on leaving it unpainted.  Does the hood take all of the original mounting hardware or did that require massaging as well?

Direct bolt on. Get the new lightweight hood springs though. They told me they triple checked their mould and it was dead on. Who knows. I would give them a shot but compare your stock hood to the glass one right out of the box. Measure everything.

Lightweight hood springs?  Good to know, one of my hinges are bent anyway...

comet_666

Yup, I think they offer a few sets of lightweight springs. I did notice that if I have hood up and am slappming doors the hood may snap shut. But that just might be solved with an adjustment.

I've got one and they are pretty good for a fiberglass hood. All of the companies I've dealt with have to be messaged in some way or another. Hell the steel parts are no different. I did fiberglass in my turn signal base to accept the factory turn signals. The rear of my hood in the center was off(higher ) by about 3/8". i.e. the edges were lined up perfect to the cowl and fenders but the center rose about 3/8". turned out good in the end and you cant tell it's fiberglass now. even with the hood pins. They are reversed so the stick into the headlight assembly and a key lock is accessible through the 1/2 inch gap between the head light door and grille.

Yup, mine was off by another 1/2 inch where the arrow is. They kept saying it was my car.

Any idea what the fiberglass hood weighs?  The steel hoods are 60+ lbs.

Any pics of the upside-down hood pin setup?  That sounds interesting.

Right.  Did you tell them that the stock hood fit perfectly?  I guess your stock hood must've been bent too.  Freaking vendors man...

Yup, they actually offered to get a new hood and re test with that. It worked out in the end. My old hood which I was going to use was left outside for 7 years by my body guy and at some point someone started a bonfire on it. My body guy ended up footing the bill for the fiberglass hood and the 6 hrs of extra labor to get it to fit.

Got to love companies like that. I had an issue with my hooker headers not fitting on the drivers side and they said it was because i used Edelbrock RPM heads. The collector was visibly welded on crooked and one of the primaries was a full inch in the way of the torsion bar. So I had to fix it myself...  :flame:

Wow, thats a lot.
What about the AAR hoods mentioned, anyone have first hand experience with those?
