I am the proud (no-really!) owner of 2 slant 6 muscle cars.  My daily driver is a numbers matching '71 Challenger A93 "Deputy" option car, Slant 6 /904, 46K original miles.  No console, no rear window regulators or cranks, just chrome plugs, wood grain wheel.  That's it.   I will tell you that thing gets a ridiculous amount of attention because it IS a /6, and only maybe 1 in 10 tell me I should change it out for a big block...

Number 2 is my '68 Charger.  Original slant and K-frame are long gone, but by the tag and VIN, slant 6, 904.  I have a slant power train (/6, 904, K-frame) sitting there for it, but in the mean time I have a 5.9/46RE out of a '98 RAM wedged in there for some Silver State runs and daily driving duties.

Nice pair of /6 cars. :2thumbs:  Now you just need a convertible /6 version.....

I would keep the /6 Challenger original, very few of them left intact.  :Twocents:
I have one - definitely not still original...

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Who would buy one? My Dad special ordered a ef8 green 70 charger with three on the tree, delux wheel covers and had a black top painted on because he thought the vinyl top option was too expensive. Radio delete. I remember the gas monkeys look when they opened the hood to check the oil. He said he wanted good gas mileage.  Traded it in for a new 74 charger with a 318 and a radio. The six cylinder didn't have enough power to handle a pop top camper when we went on vacation. Mom, Dad and 5 kids for 2 week road trip vacations in both these cars. Definitly no air conditioning, that didn't happen until the 78 monoco wagon with a 360. Has been buying mopar mini vans since. New car every 4 years, like clockwork.

The first time I can recall seeing a slant 6 Charger was at a small Mopar show in New Jersey in the early 80's. I think there may have been others over the years at the larger shows but that one stands out. It was white, black interior & even back then had a crowd around it in disbelief that a 6 cylinder was in it.

I doubt I'd ever purposely hunt for a 6 in a Charger but if I came across one for the right price & it was a running, driving car I'd leave it alone. If the motor was gone or dead I'd have a really tough time putting the money into it to bring it back as a 6 & would more than likely put a V8 in it & build it the way I'd have ordered one.

The asking/selling price of $17,000 is not really out of line considering the car appears to be rock solid.   :Twocents:
