Ghoste

Is that a fair price our Aussie friends?

Am I only the only idiot who details the engine bay???  Every ad I see no gives a crap about engine bay and whats underneath, but only body exterior.

Maybe that's why people only give me 5k for my car  :scratchchin:

Ghoste

I keep mine clean too but it amazes me the number of cars that come to auction with filthy interiors and engine bays.  In the case of this one though, I think the engine bay is in concert with the rest of the car.

I've been following this one too and yes Ghoste, AU20k is a very good price here. Bear in mind though, that's the current price with reserve met. It will likely go for a fair bit more.
As the ad states, the colour combination is the real draw card here.
The black + red + RT + matching#'s combo is not easy to find anywhere let alone here in Oz. I'm not sure I've even seen a 2nd Gen with a red interior here.
I've decoded all the numbers and they appear legit.

As others have commented, I do find it funny how often people advertise these machines without so much as blowing the dust off the engine or dead leaves off the boot.
I guess this owner knows that the buyer is mostly paying for the fender tag anyway.
If I had the space, I'd be placing a bid.

I'd love to see the sheet confirming the W23.  August 26 is just early enough to make it.

:iagree:

While I haven't exactly looked for them, this has to be the first non-Hemi Charger I've seen coded for W23 recalls (if that's indeed the case, and I have no reason to doubt it).  I have a couple of questions on how they handled certain things on that application's B-sheet, since a B-body '69 440-4 with 15" wheels is a rare animal... as in it doesn't exist unless it was a W23 car from the factory.  Perhaps you, Doug H. and/or Barry W. have seen them before, but I haven't come across one just yet.

Ghoste

I haven't, thats why I would love to see the sheet.  Maybe not a unicorn but at least a white buffalo?  This could be quite a car.

And yet somehow it was allowed to disintegrate.....while some 318 triple greener gets treated to a Quonset filled with mothballs.

Blows my mind every time.

Ghoste

Hopefully someone saves it.

Lord Warlock

my old list of options that I pulled out of the white book, must be wrong, it had the cast recall wheels listed as W27.  I'd fix it but the website is going down soon anyway, so will just leave it as is.
69 RT/SE Y3 cream yellow w/tan vinyl top and black r/t stripe. non matching 440/375, 3:23, Column shift auto w/buddy seat, tan interior, am/fm w/fr to back fade, Now wears 17" magnum 500 rims and Nitto tires. Fresh repaint, new interior, new wheels and tires.

Ghoste

Weren't W27 the "cop" wheels?

Geno, I do not have any sheets, invoices or window stickers from a W23 GTX, Charger R/T or Coronet R/T.

Yes, they would be rare.

O/A Reports show about 58 '69 GTX's and about 41 '69 Coronet R/Ts shipped for sale in the US came with them. That number would include Hemi cars, if there were any, so the number of 440-4bbl cars with W23 could be lower than that. I do not have the report for '69 Chargers but I presume the production numbers would be comparable. You are probably looking (my WAG) at about 40-50 Chargers (with 440-4 and Hemis) that came with W23.

Getting a copy of the BS for this car would be a great find.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Ghoste

Yes, the number of 440 cars in any of those categories will be crazy small.

 :coolgleamA: Cool '69 Charger R/T!!  :2thumbs: GG's '69 Charger O&A report shows 56 cars.

Looks like Chrysler Corp. built just over 100,000 cars (5,974 Chargers) by the end of August '68 & just over 1,000 "recall" wheel cars. (1%)  :o
The 1969 model year cars went on public sale Thursday 9/19/68, so technically none should've been sold to the public still wearing the wheels (if everyone followed the "recall notice").
I've seen paperwork for a couple of each A, B & C bodies, I'm surprised there aren't a bunch of "promo" 383 SEs with sunroofs & "recall" wheels" (I guess Dodge waited for '70 to do the R/T SE 440+6 sunroof "promo" thing).

There are also going to be a number of 383 B-bodies scheduled to be built with the "recall" wheels, too many W23 cars to be all HEMI.

Here's a list published in MCG May 2000.

Sold for AU$32,398. That's US$23,577.
About 7k more than what I would have paid for it.
Hopefully we'll one day see what becomes of it.
