Guys,

I broke down yesterday in Wytheville, VA. Looks like I need a Harmonic Balancer. Anyone live near here that has one for a 5.7 Hemi? Dodge can deliver in the morning, just checking to see if maybe I can get lucky here.

Thanks,

Randy

Crazy day. Dealer could not deliver until tomorrow. I found a balancer at a junk yard. Backed the Charger out of the trailer, drove 40 miles to get it and brought back to shop.  I should be back on the road today!

Now that you're home and rested, a couple of questions.  How'd you know the balancer was bad and not something else and were you carrying a puller?  If not how did you get it off?

Wait, just read that you returned to the "shop" where you must have had the puller.

So, initially, it ate the serpentine belt. I had a spare with me so, I put it on. When I cranked it up, I could see the balancer wobbling very badly. So, at that point, I shut it off and called AAA. I had it towed to one of their local repair facilities. I was hesitant at first, but they turned out to be good folks.

They let me drive to get a used harmonic balancer when the dealer couldn't get one to them until the next day. I don't know why the dealer couldn't have one delivered sooner, but I didn't press it.

Way to go :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Holding it together in a situation like that and having a spare serp belt although it did not help you out of your jam, it's the fact that you had one. Probably saved some $$$ being prepaired like that.

Thanks man! It was stressful. I had to fly out on business for my "day" job on Tuesday. So, I was motivated to get home. Luckily I made it, but when I get back home, I need to go over the truck and check it out prior to the Nats in August.
