Ebay is still selling ...at one hell of a price to i might add. They have said the only things that they will ban are directly related products (flags, belt buckles, swim ware, etc) NOT the General Lee, Or things that just have it on it somewhere. :2thumbs:
1969 Charger  Orange /black top  (1989) 360 engine stock with added xtreme comp cam and a 4 bbl  , 904 trans/shift kit , 8-1/4 rear.. with general lee accents.

I hope none of the owners of a 69 or any other year Charger they may have that has been done as the General take the flags off of them.
I am originally from Michigan and have now been living in North Carolina for over 10 years and consider my self more Southern than a Yank because I traveled mostly to the Southern States as a kid with my parents and have always like the Southern hospitality and a mans word was all you needed for a deal. I still hold onto that because that is the way I was raised and I am old school but here is what I don't think people are thinking about with the this BS on the flag.
This will divide this country even more than it already is and it will create a Shit Storm that will escalate to near rioting proportions. We have already had a Church burned by arson here in Charlotte right after this punk shot those folks. Keep in mind that church is a Baptist church once owned by all whites and is now owned by all blacks. This is going to be a real problem all started by an idiot kid who wont last 5 days in prison and I would lay odds on it a white guy takes him out.
This is just another reason I am a strong believer of the death penalty but I have a a new rule for it. With all the DNA testing there is once convicted and sentenced to Death Row you have one year to proof the courts wrong after that you are gone.

Just my two bucks worth.

I apologize if I've gone a bit deeper than I should.   This truly does hit closer to home than just normal politics.

I haven't said it but I've thought it and I'm sure some of you have also so here goes.   The car is the General Lee.   The name, the flag and the overall star of the show that they want to ban.  I'm just curious if they see an orange charger they are going to look at it the same?
Like you Keith, you don't have the flag or name on the roof but at a glance I see dukes of hazard.   I see General Lee.   Before my graphics were put on people saw my car the same way.

I can't speak for most here but I've never met or heard of a General Lee owner raised on the dukes show that's a racist.
Anyway, I don't see it happening but you never know.   If you live in the south just don't leave your car in a parking lot for awhile.

Thanks for posting Paulie.   That's kinda what I've been saying.   By them doing this attack on the flag and targeting other things THEY are creating a wedge not bringing us closer.
I have family in the south and I've lived there and it is definitely different than other places in the country.  So some members here don't see it as a big deal because they don't get it.  There is way more tension than what we YANKEES hear on the news and it's going to explode I fear.  I really really hope I'm proven wrong and would love to have members tell me "see skip, you worried for nothing" but I don't think so.  Not this time.
I tell you what, if anyone here has their car damage I say we all chip in and see that it's fixed.

Yea i dont have a huge flag on the roof yet but i am still going to put it on in a few years when i pull the top off and paint it orange like the rest of the car so my flag is not real big but there is one on the front (license plate) and under the hood (back ground for the photo of the general lee that is under the hood) And they are staying. Even when i do mine its a ghost image so it will not be as noticeable as a normal general lee but leave the car alone , the show was a very none racial show to begin with.
I personally dont care for it being from the north and moving deep south when i was a child and having to move back be cause of the harassment from the so called rebel supporters left a bad taste in my mouth but to each his own. That was in the early 70s and hopefully it is different know, so i have a reason not to care for  the flag because of what it stood for in my case. But leave the car alone,it dont offend me  and is responsible for my love of chargers and cars but that's a different story. :Twocents:

QuoteLooks like it's blowing over real well.  Like I said and I was right, this is opening doors to much more trouble.   I'm just curious how the millions of southerners are going to respond in the next few days and weeks.   Some can't see what's happening and that this has been building for years either because they're young or inexperienced or not capable of seeing it.   Or maybe all three.   Doesn't matter.   We will be hearing more of how all these things are repressing the black man when in truth they're doing it to themselves just fine for years.  They don't need us to keep them down.

Did these 9 people shoot themselves?  Or get shot by other black people?

Did black people or the media make up the shooter's racist motivations?

Did they make up the racially-charged history of the Confederate flag & the state govt's history of racial oppression?

Did they make up the story about the state leaving the flag flying last week while the others came down?

It seems like you've got this narrative all cooked up in your mind.  A bunch of angry blacks were busy blaming whitey for their problems last week and then they started demanding the flag be taken down on a whim.  That does not fit this incident at all.

Now that the sales of confederate flag have been banned the only way you can buy now is through the Black Market. How ironic.  :shruggy:

IMO, the general public can't tell the difference between a Charger, Challenger, Road Runner, or GTX. If its a big orange Mopar, or even Torino or Galaxy, or Caprice,  they  will think it is a potential General. Some of the more in tune will know that it has to be a Mopar at least. I say this because when I had my orange  '68 Road Runner back in the '80s, I can't tell you how many people asked when the flag and 01 were going on it.  When I  helped them understand the difference  between the Plymouth and the Dodge, then I might get asked why I didn't paint it red with a white stripe (ala Stasky and Hutch). The average Joe and Jane driver only knows its an old car.

That perception also has the unfortunate side effect of being percived as gross pullution generators as well, but that  is another rat hole entirely.

I can get sensitive on these subjects.

I'm torn on this.  I'm a huge rabid DOH/GL fan.  But I think the ruckus over the flag is pretty valid this time.

------------------------------

Imagine if a Mosque in downtown NYC had left some type of Islamic or Afghanistan flag at full-mast after 9/11, while they had the US flag lowered to half-mast just a few yards away.

They could explain that any way they like - it would still have been a friggin' idiotic thing to do. And lots of people would interpret it as an intentional message.

skip68

I agree.  To lower the other flags and not that one was in extremely poor taste or lack of judgment.   Not sure who's brilliant idea it was to leave it up but very disrespectful and tacky.   I'd like to believe it wasn't done intentionally.  I don't know enough about what happened other than it wasn't lowered.   I think they have every right to be upset by that as I would be.  Extremely disrespectful.

You can tell that's not the real General Lee, though.  The door is open.

Thank you for that.---- :2thumbs:---The flavor of the day is not necessarily a good flavor.

I'm guessing whoever made the cake had no idea it was Isis flag.   Still disturbing.  Hopefully it'll hit the media like today show.   That'll put a little heat on Wal-Mart.

Something like this will only hit the main stream media after it has run it's course on the internet and become big enough to be like the elephant in the room. :Twocents:  The "media" tends to fall over backward on camera to avoid the most important questions of the day.---Like --I don't know?---Does someone want to kill us?-- And do they do so without consequence?  :shruggy:

Mike DC

It's almost a great stunt.

But the Walmart employees were probably not aware that it was an ISIS cake. That kills 2/3rds of the impact he was going for.

Walmart employees in middle America who can read Arabic are few & far between.  And Walmart can't have a policy of just rejecting any & all Arabic-looking text across the board.

skip68

That's what I told my wife.  It's not likely that the workers at Wal-Mart are current with CNN.   Not trying to belittle anyone.

Hey Skip,
I hope we are both way wrong and this thing doesn't get out of control but I do agree that the guys that have Generals here in the south will need to keep a close eye on them.
Now then what is to become of Duke Fest?   Do they now have to put the General that is parked outside of Cooter's place in Gatlinburg Tenn away each night?  Oh and what happens when a General shows up at a car show? Will they be banned?
Now stop and think about how stupid what I just said sounds.   :flame:  This never should have come to this.  :RantExplode:

I wouldn't worry about any of it.  Now that we have isolated the root cause of racism we can quickly eliminate the Confederate flag and all that it stands for.  It won't be overnight but I'm sure that within the next few months, once all traces of that horrid symbol of evil and ignorance are gone the problem will be solved and everyone will love everyone else, poverty will vanish, the jails will empty, the drug dealers will all get real jobs and everyone will own their own home.
