Help decided between 2 cars

I have a question that I can't seem to find any performance data to answer it.
Here it is, I like performance and am considering a newer car.  Of ONLY these 2 which would you buy performance wise. I now it isn't apples to apples and will probably get some people going but put your feelings aside and think about it honestly.

A Supercharged Crossfire (supposedly 330 hp)

or

A 6.1 liter Hemi Charger

Like I sadi it isn't apples to apples, but which do you think will perform better on road (ie faster).

Old Moparz

I understand the apples & oranges thing, but what do you want the car for? That is the biggest factor I'd say. Do you need it for more than a 2 seater? Is it just going to be a toy for one?

I don't need 4 doors and I don't need more than 2 seats.  I just want one with some performance.  I'm thinking the 6.1 liter hemi chrger will kick ass but then again a supercharged 3.2 liter in the Crossfire may make up for the loss of cubic inches.  I really can't find any performance data, like 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times 0-100-0 times things like that.  I could have sworn though that I read an article that said the 6.1 liter hemi would do 0-60 in under 5 seconds.

Old Moparz

If you aren't worried about MPG, then the 6.1 could be fun, but if MPG is a concern, than maybe the Crossfire would be better. I'm guessing MPG isn't an issue though.   :D   Best thing is to go drive them to see which you like best because you'll have to live with it, nobody else. But since you asked for opinions, here's mine without bashing either car. I'd drive both to be sure, but I have a feeling the 6.1 might win out. A rear wheel drive V8 has always been a favorite of mine.

(I really like the 300 quite a bit, & there is supposed to be a 6.1 available too btw.)

I haven't seen the new charger in side and out, but last year i did look at the 300C and the Magnum at the Sacramento auto show. the chrysler was pretty much the same car as the magnum, only the inside was much nicer. i'm sure you can order the nicer intreior on the dodge, but the nicer stuff comes standard on the chrysler. i like the headlights on the charger better then the headlights on the 300, but i love the classical look of the chrysler dash. i would think that the crossfire has the same classical style then it come to the instrmentation as the 300C. i think that if i had the chance to choose a new dodge/chrysler car i would probalby choose ether a Chrossfire Supercharged SRT6 or the 300C SRT8 with the 6.1L. i'm not imptessed with the over use of plastic in the dodge intreiors these days, but if you don't mind the plastic or can order the nicer leahter and wood intreior, and are willign to put up with the ribbing you're gonna get from buying a new charger then, maybe the charger is a good choice.

Charger.  Crossfire has too cramped of an interior, for my tastes.  Although, a Crossfire ragtop wouldn't be so cramped.....

seems like a pretty straighforward choice to me...

The cross fire will handle alot better and   fit you like a glove,.. waaay too tight for me,. I like room...

The SRT-8 Charger what you call the 6.1 hemi... will offer a decent amount of space for you and up to three passengers...
and burn the hides of the tires...   I'd prolly go with the the Chysler 300 C SRT-8 myself,... If ya need even more room the Magnum station wagon comes in a SRT-8 Version too,..
I agree about the interior too, It's   just plain,... They make a wood kit, for it though,... even so i still find it looks 'el strippo to my eye...
here's a link to a wooded intereior...

Listen here, if you want performance go for a Dodge Stealth R/T! I drove one with factory Twin Turbos and you can smoke the rear tires of that thing from here to christmas and back!

Take each of the cars for a test drive and then decide. That is the best way to decide which car you like better. Good luck with your decision  !

Those are also cramped.  And, a right pain in the ass to work on, I'm told.

Hard to work on yes due to the twin turbos but not cramped. The front seats a pretty spacious and the back... well they are fair sized, not as BIG as the NEW CHARGER!

If you are bigger guy forget about Crossfire. I had a chance to test of standard model (or better to say I had intention to do the test), but since I'm 6'6'' there was no way to fit inside.

Crossfire, if only to show Chrysler there is a market for two doors?

lumpy

I would go with a Magnum SRT8, that's just me. Looks and styling are better, and recent mag issue tested one running 13 sec. qtr. mile :o On a different note, just saw this picture. What exactly are they trying to show here? The differences between the two? How the new Daytona looks NOTHING like the old one??

MyMopar

Thank you for the replies.  I guess I'm more confuesed than before but we'll see after the test drives.

My wife mentioned the Dodge Stealth to me, but they are a pain to perform maintenance on and the amount of upgrades are just too tempting, don't want to take away from the real Charger budget.

The magnums are nice but they are too big.

I have a 300 M and like the performance, but want more.  Maybe the 300C is in the future for me, but that car just seems too big also, like the Charger.

I guess I'll see how well I fit in the Crossfire, I'm not 6'6" but I don't like feeling cramped.

I also like to be sure I can see out of the car and the smaller windows in all models worries me.

Maybe I'll just skip the whole car thing and p/u a nice Challenger and with the left over money (if any) get some real  nice parts for the Charger. :icon_smile_big:

No visibility issue in a Crossfire ragtop.  :icon_smile_big:

The Challenger idea sounds best to me! put a 5 speed in it and you'll have the nice lines and the driveability of those new cars.
