Life is good, ordering parts for the '69 again, need parts help...

So, after 4 years of job loss and moving and bankruptcy etc etc, we are financially ahead of the game again and have money that can be invested in the car.

My first question is about flex plate to torque converter bolts.  It's a cast crank 440 with a 727b auto.  The bolts I have are too large for the holes on the torque converter.  I need the smaller diameter bolts as well as they need to be thin headed for clearance.  Anyone know exactly what bolts I need and the best place to buy them?

Second question, I think I read on here that no one is currently selling the vacuum hose sets for the headlight doors.  Does anyone have a schematic so I can build/assemble it myself?  (I didn't think to photograph that before removing it...)

Also, I have an original '69 parts book on cd and it's great, but I can't find many places online to actually look up things by their original part numbers.  Any suggestions?

I was going to cut and paste the page out of the service manual that everyone always posts when this comes up, but the picture is illegible, IMO.

All you need to know is that with the vacuum switch as your starting point, the top hose (which was striped yellow from the factory) runs all the way to a "T" fitting.  Each of these two hoses then goes to the top vacuum port on both of the headlight actuators.

The second vacuum hose from the headlight switch is plain black and runs to another "T"  fitting that splits off; one of each of these hoses will attach to the bottom vacuum port on the headlight actuators.

Finally, the third vacuum hose (striped green) runs all the way down to the vacuum cannister.  But, I have a question myself:  the vacuum line that goes from the brake booster ALSO plumbs into the vacuum cannister, right guys?

Congratulations on getting your house in order.  We look forward to seeing progress on your car.

I hope the price is better than Classic's $150.  For that much I'll make my own damn vacuum hose bundle from Auto Zone...

Hey thanks for the great info everyone.  I'll be putting in an order soon.  I knew this was the place to ask.

As to your parts lookup question, you should be able to get a copy of the parts manual on cd-rom as well.

UH60L

Yeah, I've got the parts manual on cd, the problem I am finding is that many web sites that sell parts don't have a part number search function.  (or it's only for searching their part numbers, not manufacturer part numbers)

So having the original part number doesn't do me much good with those sites.

In fact, about the only time it seems to help is if I go down to a local dealership and give them the number, they still have some common hardware stuff in stock...

Ah, I get it now.  Unfortunately, unless you find a parts store with someone who is both willing and understands how to use any interchange features in their system its pretty tough.  Most of them can't even look up window regulator unless they know your engine size and transmission type.

Yeah, no kidding, hehe.

Since I am on here asking about parts, I've got another question.

So, you've got the drip rail moldings that come as a set and wrap around onto the top of the back window, and then you've got the one piece that runs along the top of the door.

Then there is a bigger rail that gets screwed into the top edge of the entire side opening and the windows roll up against it.  What is the official name of that and does anyone reproduce them?  The parts cd I have is vague, calling it a "retainer", and seal on the bottom side of it "weatherstrip".

Sadly, the reason I ask is because I seem to have misplaced both of mine...    :rotz:  (I swear I brought them from the old house when I moved...)

Have both styles used 68/69-70 fit the same look different , 68 are fully polished 69and up have polished sides and are galvanized steel .
Have the out drip rail trim as well new only
Have all of the exterior trim new used and restored
Have the weatherstripping and complete seal kits
In the event you do find the roof rail trim that holds the weatherstrip Do not waste time screwing it in until you have roughed the glass fitment use it as a guide to align glass to the roof but don't jump steps , I also have all of the glass , hardware , regulators window felts guides ect...

Thanks, but I actually bought a new windshield set back in 2008 before I put the car in the body shop.  Still new, never opened.

I have a driver side window that is in great condition.  PM me if interested.
