I just finished doing a car stereo in my car now i can listen to tunes when I'm driving.  I installed a new Kenwood head unit and i had a set of Sony 6x9 in the rear  that i ran it to worked great and sound pretty good. I had a set of 5' round speakers that i already had and wanted to put them in the front not a lot of spots there so i ended up making a speaker box to go between the seats i dont have a center console worked out nice and sounds great. What are you guys running in your cars, and do you have front speakers and if you do where did you put them ?
Here's some shots of what i did.

Very cool idea.  Did you have to cut up your stock radio trim plate at all?

keith88

Just squared it off and opened it up a little very easy to do no big issue . They do sell a replacement plate  all ready to accept a din head unit at Classic Industries.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Got an old Sony in the glovebox with a wired remote...hardly use it though.  I am running a dual speaker set up in the stock center dash location with a pair of 6x9 on the rear deck under the package tray

Got a JVC head unit, pretty high end by my standards, it cost like $60. Got CD, USB, and aux. input.

Put two 3.5" speakers in the stock bracket in the dash, real cheap pyle junk.  They are already starting to clip, going to need replaced eventually.

Couple 6x9" pioneer stock replacement styles in the back, got them for free years ago.

10" Bazooka sub in a sealed box out back, 600 watt Profile amp.   Not anything great, but gets the job done.

Head unit under the seat, faceplate in the console. Also has a hand held remote. Subs/amps in trunk.

In another car I have an original AM radio converted to modern internals, has an mp3 input, & run 6x9's out back & a dual-voice speaker in the dash.

Here is my system.

Tweeters under the outboard speaker grilles, dual 4'' speakers in place of the single stock speaker, 5 1/8'' speakers in the kick panels (Tight fit!).
And 5x7'' speakers in the back.
All connected with crossovers to the modern headunit, which is placed in a location where only the driver has access to it  :icon_smile_big:

I am happy with the sound quality, and the ability to finetune it with all the functions the modern headunit has.

I would call on that price the catalog is much cheaper it probably a misprint on line.

As for the rest of the post-ee there is a lot of nice stuff out there wish i could have put the front speakers in the kick panels but there just is not enough room.

Wookie, your kick panel is almost identical to mine.  I'm running FoCals too.  The mids are at my feet facing me.  Tweeters are up in my dash in the 2 separate speaker holes.  My car had the speaker package.  Woofer in the back under the rear defroster.
Alpine deck in glove like Chris'.

Amp/crossover & another amp mounted behind rear seat 2 partition.

I like my music.  I switch between it & the motor sound.

I drove OTR for a while.  I got a brand new truck after a couple years.  I gutted the sound system & added one.
Tweeters up high on panel CB mounts to.  Mids behind head in cab wall.  And in the double sleeper under my bed was a huge storage area.  2 12" Woofers went into an enclosure.
I had a 10 disc CD player mounted up top in the clothes closet along with a big amp for the woofers & one for the mids/highs.  I also had a crossover box to mix.  There was some new product that was suppose to make it sound like you were in a church or something, can't remember.  I ended up getting off the road before I spent anymore.  As it was I think it was around $6k total.  This was in '91.

When I would pull into our main terminal I'd get at least 2 mechanics running out to my truck to open my door to see if the truck was due for service.  They would love driving it in just the area of a trucking yard so they could listen to the stereo.

You could stand outside the truck & watch the walls of the sleeper bounce with the bass.  Having the entire sleeper as basically the woofer enclosure made for some incredible bass.  Modesty aside, I have yet to hear a stereo equal to.
Like I said the sleeper made for an interesting sound!

Chris, may I ask where you got the enclosure that your deck is in?

Wookie, how'd you get hooked up with those kick panels?  That's a lot better look than mine.   :2thumbs:

Going to be running 8 track through RF speakers. Should be interesting. I'll have a CD deck tucked away somewhere, but the main goal is 8 track. Picked up a component recorder as well so I can make tapes off computer.
