The Dodge M4S is a prototype sports coupe originally designed and built by Dodge in 1984.

The original M4S Dodge Turbo Interceptor that was made for the movie the wraith top speed was well over 195 miles per hour. It was the first supercar in the world to top the 200+ MPH the other three prototypes that appeared in the movie were dialed down as the original prototype was over 810 hp a d hit a top speed of 218-229 mph. The car proved to be a little to much to handle and almost killed the stunt car driver in the firsr race scene so the other three were toned down a bit from the original prototype. The car was made famous by its appearance in The Wraith, a 1986 supernatural film. The mid-engined car had a top speed of 194.8 miles per hour (313.5 km/h) and could go from 0 to 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) in 4.1 seconds, with more than 440 horsepower (330 kW) under the hood[1] using a the original prototype was built by dodge but engineers were brought in from, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Japan and the original prototype was the first car to feature two twin turbo's aligned to get 800+ horsepower making it the worlds first car to break the 200+ mile per hour speed limit. The power turned out to be to much for the stunt drivers to handle and made the car even harder to handle for scenes in the movie hence the three other prototypes built for the movie. twin-turbocharged Dodge 2.2 inline four cylinder engine.[2]

Reportedly, there are only four M4S prototypes in existence. Dodge never planned to turn the M4S into a production car.[1] It was used as a marketing vehicle to promote Chrysler Corporation, like being a pace car at various motorsports events.[2]

Chrysler was so touchy about that car that they had their own "pit crew" for the M4 during the filming of The Wraith...

If only the acting and plot of the movie had been better, the wraith may have gotten noticed, but the movie really sucks and the acting is lame.  I kept finding myself changing the channel before the movie was over because it was boring. I did eventually watch it all the way through...and was only to see the car, not the actors or actresses.

To me the acting was no worse than anything else in that era.  Fast (for that time) cars, guns, a rockin soundtrack, becoming immortal and killing the people that wronged you, but most of all, getting Sherilynn Fenn in a bikini, in a hot tub AND showing her boobies makes the movie a winner for me...
