Can anyone here recommend a machine shop in the Sacramento, CA area? Have a friend that needs his block bored out.

Thanks!

I've used Del's Machine for years, so have many of the locals.

The only engine I ever had that threw a rod was machined at Del's. The big end is still on the crank, the rest is a twisted mess still hanging on the piston. The rods were resized. I can't say for sure that Del's was to blame, but the 3 360s and 5 other 440s (Including my 440 based 493) machined elsewhere have all been fine.
I have had great results at Vic's Harbor Machine in West Sacramento.

I don't think it's fair to blame a mid-beam rod failure on the machine shop.

Not saying this particular incident was the issue, but I have seen mid- beam rod failure due to the big end seizing on the crank.  Clearance issues could bring that specific problem about, especially if the resized rod was off by. 001 or better. Again, highly unlikely, but possible. Good example of why everything needs to be checked and verified upon assembly. :Twocents:
