Hi guys,

I am interested in a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner and want a 440-6, ideally with the pistol grip 4-speed. These cars are just amazing looking and imo were the pinnacle of the muscle car era, before things started going downward in terms of performance, etc.

I would like to hear what you guys think how much near perfect examples of these cars will be trading for, to make sure I am in the right range. I am looking at a matching numbers vehicle (original engine, trans), with original sheet metal, 727 Tf Auto, high-impact color, etc. Also the car is in beautiful condition (mechanically as well as optically) and the history can be tracked back to the original owner.

My question to the B-Body experts in here: How much do you guys think a car like this is worth based on my description above???

70 rr's are nice. Be my second choice after a second gen charger.

Sounds like you are describing a fully restored '70 RR 440-6 4 speed which would be north of $65-70k.

Check some of the auctions for sold cars (Mecum.com) and factor in the sales percent.  Another site is NADA (http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1970/Plymouth/Road-Runner/2-Door-Hardtop-440-3x2/Values).

best year for the road runner IMO was 69.5 A12

bare bones, lets go racing.

Save for one of those!.....Although....i do love a 70, that grill and tail are fricken sexy  :drool5:

Hard Charger

I have chased a few unassembled 70 RR's on e-bay all painted but not assembled. 40k could not persuade 2 people to part with them. those didn't include a numbers matching 440 6-pak if I remember.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

The car I am looking at is a 1970 Roadrunner with the 440-6pak. I love the 70 model with the air grabber hood and the nice grill plus body style... For me it is the #2 Mopar after our second generation chargers... It does have a lot in common...

This car that I am contemplating has an impeccable history, matching everything, has had one restoration 15 years ago, is sublime green (so high-impact color makes it special too...). The car is in excellent condition and has less than 50K miles, it has a few performance mods (headers, cam, gearing), but that can be put back to oem easily if need be...

Here's the catch: $80-$90k and its an automatic... 4-speed would be the ultimate in my eyes, but on the other hand its rare to find such perfect car...?? What do you guys think?? Is that too much for such a car??

I think I am already over my head with my Charger project, but this seems like a gem...

I think you can get a full "just completed" restoration 4 speed for $80-90k.  He is about $20k too high for an auto 15 year old restoration.

myk

Not if the quality of the restoration was solid and the car was kept that way since the 'resto.  If you want an M4 then hold out for it.  80 large is a lot of money to just "settle" on something just because it looks nice...

A 69 Super Bee with the A12 and lift-off hood would maybe be even a better option than a 70RR, but those I guess are virtually impossible to find, not to mention the price...?

myk

Exactly.  That sort of a car is Tim Wellborn/Jay Leno territory...

I'd take the 70 RR over the 69 any day. I just like them better. It's actually probably the only year of RR I'm really fond of.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I agree with the 70 looking better than the 69. I think they are awesome cars. I sold one about 8 years ago for $15500 numbers matching 4 speed. the guy completely restored it and then for $55000 for it I believe. Now remember this was 2007 or so. $80-90k seems steep to me. maybe $55-60k
