I assume I can convert from column/auto to floor/console/auto without cutting the tunnel. All I need to do is attach the correct brackets to the tunnel for the console. And then I just change out the collar in the column, or should I change out the entire column for a more stock look?

Also, if I decide to go for a manual, can I use a modern toploader five speed without having to cut the tunnel, and then use a console to hide the fact that it's humpless/centered in the middle?

I'm looking to keep a stock look either way. Thx.

no cutting on the floor to change to a floor shifted auto....

modern 5-speeds usually at minimum require a BFH to get to fit unless you purchase a direct fit kit ($$$) from a vendor.

Your console can be used to cover any signs of a non-humped floor.

I ran a TKO trans and the console covered a lot of things. it looked stock = the look i was going for as well
