Someone told me Tom Hoover is in hospital on life support and partially paralyzed.  I don't know anything else about it or even if its true for that matter.
Since he played such an important role in the design of the Hemi and ram intakes not to mention the Ramchargers race team I figured this was more a car guy topic than an off one.

That health crisis (and article) was 2 years ago.  Ghoste is asking about recent events.

Googling Tom brought up nothing newer.

Sad anyway. :'(

This was posted on Facebook by Mancini racing .  "We regret to inform our Facebook friends and the Mopar community that Tom Hoover past away last night. Unlike last week's rumors, this has been confirmed. We'll post more details as soon as we get them. ‪#‎GodfatheroftheHEMI‬ ‪#‎OriginalRamcharger‬ "   .    R.I.P. Mr. Hoover .

Well, that's a punch in the gut!   :(
I had a lot of respect for the man. Rest in peace Mr. Hoover.

Yes, sad days.  Tom passed away.

http://www.hotrod.com/news/tom-hoover-father-of-the-426-hemi-has-died/

Not only the "Father of the 426" but the "Father of the Max Wedge".

Obviously a very talented and brilliant man, not just as an engineer, but a people person.  He ran whole divisions of engineers, and racers, and dealt with some of the largest egos ever in racing and in corporate business, and succeeded like no other.

And a Korean War vet.  :patriot:

"Dear God, my prayer for 2024 is a fat bank account and a thin body. Please don't mix these up like you did the last ten years."

Mytur Binsdirti

"Father" of the 426 Hemi. I met him at a car meet in MA about 30 years ago when he was working for GE in MA. He brought his notchback Cuda to the meet & a whole bunch of slides from his Ramcharger days. Everyone in attendance was in awe.

What a true gentleman and personable guy he was.

RIP Mr. Hoover.

this is confirmed then?  He was a personal friend many years back, but we lost touch after he retired.

Yes, he's passed.  Obituaries are confirmed.

Here's an interview with Tom on ESPN from July 2014.  Just a straight shooting ordinary guy, but at the end he sure wants to keep telling the story.
