From the listing:
Offered is this very rare, 1964 Dodge Polara 500 with the optional 426 Max Wedge engine. Of the 153 Max Wedge Dodge's built, 5 were Polara 500 2-door hardtops. Of these, this vehicle is the only one known to still exist per Galen Govier. This is a factory drag racer; the car Jan & Dean sing about in their song "Little Old Lady from Pasadena". The Polara 500 was the top-of- the-line Dodge in 1964 and was equipped with bucket seats and floor console. This vehicle features the extremely rare TRI-Y exhaust and is the only Max Wedge known to have them installed. This car has been verified correct by Galen Govier. It has attained senior status in the AACA, has been featured in Mopar Action magazine, been featured in a 2015 calendar and was invited to and shown at the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals (MCACN) in November of 2014. This vehicle is one of a kind and cannot be duplicated.

Very rare car!  If it's the real deal as stated, I can see some collector paying that for it....

Those factory cast headers are worth the price...

Never saw a set in my life, anywhere....  :2thumbs:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

QuoteThis vehicle features the extremely rare TRI-Y exhaust and is the only Max Wedge known to have them installed.

The combination is definitely RARE, but I don't think anyone is claiming this car came from the factory with these manifolds.  I don't believe any of the "TRI-Ys" were factory installed. :shruggy:
..... per Darrell Davis' book there were 5 Max Wedge '64 Polara 500 hardtops built (all automatics) & there are only a handful of these manifolds known to exist.

For 1964 there were 4 Max Wedge Polara 500 convertibles built, 3 were 4-speeds  :2thumbs:.

I at one time owned just a Left side NASCAR, Max Wedge Tri-Y Exhaust manifold, in my collection of parts.
They were in development for the NASCAR super speedways, and never intended for a drag strip type of car.
So no, they were never "factory" installed on that car.

That car was extensively talked about on another forum a few years back, when those Tri-Y manifolds were purchased for a great deal of $$$$$$$ and installed on that car.

It has been "rumored" that only 6 or 7 complete sets of them were ever produced for NASCAR evaluation, at the time, that i owned mine.

I never saw a complete pair in person, other than pictures from the man that i bought the left from, decades ago.

He should send it to auction. It's too dangerous to advertise this kind of car on Craigslist.

I know the car well (Jersey car). Shows up at many local car shows & cruises. I've met the owner only a few times.

VERY nice car.  :yesnod:
