Collier AMC Dealership - Pikeville, North Carolina Hidden in plain view on U.S. Route 117.

The Javelins and AMXs will attract most of the attention, as they are sought after enough to make the effort and cost of a restoration a reasonable undertaking. Family-man Hornets and Ambassadors may be restorable, but few are willing to spend five figures restoring a four-figure car. Rarer cars hide in the rows and under branches. A Rambler Rebel lies buried up to its hubs in earth and brush. Only its roof, or lack of one, stands out. The windows are rolled up, though that does nothing to keep branches from entering the interior through the ragged remains of what was once a cloth roof. This is the fate of one of only 1,686 '67 Rambler Rebel convertibles, which were built for that year only, rebadged as AMCs for 1968, and discontinued in 1969.

Sounds like the term dealership is used very loosely. Its more like an AMC-only junkyard that used to be a dealership.

Well....the owners were going to restore and/or do something with the cars SOME day...

I think most of those pics are around 5 years old or so.  Curious what the current status would be.

I am guessing he/they are asking an unreasonable amount for the vehicles. If not they would most likely be all gone by now. If for nothing else, but for parts.
These people probably thing they have a goldmine there.
It's sad.
I'd take any one if given to me.

They come off as the crazy hoarder types. "We know they're rotting away outside, but we have no room in the garage so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"

Not sure I'd call it abandon...more like somebodies collection that just happens to include a run down amc dealership. Obviously somebody is still moving junky cars in there so that to me does not qualify as "abandon"
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

This was featured on Jalopnik a day or two ago in an article about weird dealerships. As I said earlier, I think still referring to this place as a "dealership" is overreaching.

He should sell the whole lot before the cars rust away.

Have you ever read the list of useless superpowers?  Owning that property reminds me of that list.

AMC was the cutting edge for auto design.....The only manufacturer able to use photos of their cars taken in the 60's for their ads right up to when they went out of business.

I wonder if anyone is even trying to buy any of these? Certainly Javelins will command the highest prices, but if no one is asking about that Hornet of Spirit, they certainly wouldn't be selling.
