Is there a comprehensive list out there someplace of those sounds of racing style ablums that they used to do?

TruckDriver

I don't know if there is a list, but I remember growing up, I had 2 records of racing sounds. One was a demo derby, the other was dirt track racing.

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.

I do have two drag racing ones on vinyl but the one is all scratched up.  I have a Formula 1 sounds on cd somewhere too.

I have one of the drag racing albums as well.  Plus, the Richard Petty album that has the Superbird on the front, although it's not really the same type album with engine sounds and all.

That's quite a list Aero!

I have one. It came with a copy of Aussie Street Machine and has 24 tracks with various Aussie name cars like Victor Bray doing a 1/4 mile burnout and Craig Lowndes in-car mic set up talking to the Crew Chief on a Bathurst hot lap. Its quite cool when I'm working in the garage and one track comes on loud randomly through the speakers.

Doug that is fantastic!  Thank you, I was just hoping to find a list to try and hunt vinyl but that link has it handled on cd.  :2thumbs:

Yes, a lot of them should now be on CD, either bootleg or otherwise.

I recommend "Sounds of Sebring 1962".   Last race they did.   Good play by play, interviews and sound.     I have some from both labels.   The Riverside stuff is typically good.   I have some Fleetwood titles that just sound like engine noise once the race starts.  Not much narration.    I have bought some just because of the cool album covers.

On You Tube,  Sounds of Sebring '56.    This was the first year they covered.

Have not had these out in the daylight for some time.   This thread seemed like a good time to dust them off.

Some of these, the artwork is nice enough to put into an album frame and hang it up.
